  1. Hi, Just a quick update. After a bit of wrangling, yesterday received a letter basically saying "here's a £100 to cover the charges and keep the change". So, suppose that it is a bit of a result.
  2. Hi, I'm after a bit of advice regarding whether to claim Pension Credit. My wife and I are both disabled and receive the following benefits: Me - Contribution Based ESA (Support Group) DLA - Higher Mobility DLA - Middle Care My Wife - Incapacity Benefit DLA - Higher Mobility DLA - Middle Care Problem is; I can claim Pension Credit but what happens to my ESA (Cont) and my wifes IB. Do we lose them or do we just receive a top up from the Pension Credit. Also, will our income level drop or stay the same if we just get Pension Credit. I'm thinking of the Support group extra payment, whether we lose that amount or not. I aslo get a small pension due to ill-health retirement. Many thanks
  3. Hi AJW, It can be very daunting when you first start to do this but you can get plenty of advice on here. Best way to start is one step at a time and deal with just one claim at first. That way, you will contol the expense to a managable level. (Just one £10 for the SAR and not 8). Pick your most likely candidate and SAR them. Once you have all the information, put your claim in. Hopefully you will have an easy process, then you can use the money from that one, to fund the next. First step then, get the SAR template from the library, amend to sort your purpose and wing it off to your first target, recorded delivery and with £10 postal order. Wait 40 days and see what turns up. Hopefully this will show PPI details. Prepare FOS questionnaire, SOC spreadsheet and short covering letter, wing off to target. Wait for cheque (hopefully) Plot and Plan next claim and when ready execute. REMEMBER, you will have LOTS of HELP from here. Jedicris
  4. Hi, Postman has just delivered letter from the ICO regarding my complaint about Barclaycard messing about in regard to my SAR. Briefly, they have upheld my complaint but are not taking any further action against Barclaycard but are keeping it on file. That really makes me feel satisfied! NOT!!!
  5. Hi, I had a similar query a while ago and the answer I got from Barclaycard was along the lines of, " active cards will be dealt with by Barclaycard and inactive or defunct cards by Egg.
  6. Hi Dx, It was this one http://www.consumeractiongroup.co.uk/forum/showthread.php?348290-Barclayloan-Rejection-!!!!&highlight=jedicris I'm happy for them to stay there as it was a response to a query on that thread.
  7. OK Dx, I have just found it, it was as an answer and advice on/to somebody elses thread.
  8. Hi Dx, If you feel that they should be combined that is OK but they were all different issues. Thanks Jedicris
  9. Hi Citizen B, No that is not the one, that was my Barclaycard Credit Card one. On reflection, I think it may have been as an answer on somebody else's thread who was having a similar problem, no matter.
  10. I thought I already had a thread for this but can't seem to find it, so doing this one, so as to give encouragement to those who are having problems or are unsure about claiming. In February 2012, I sent off my PPI claim to Barclays for a loan I had taken out in 2001. In April 2012, I received a generic standard rejection letter and phoned them to find out the specific reasons and was told that it was because they had no copy of the agreement. Luckily I still had the agreement and other supporting paperwork so sent them a copy of that, with a letter that I required them to re-examine my claim. After many months of sending them "What are you doing and hurry up" letters and a Formal Complaint about lack of responses and the time taken, they have now replied. They have upheld my claim and enclosed a cheque for £2300. I am very pleased with this as it is just slightly in excess of my calculations. It does go to show that you must challenge them and not just accept any old tosh that they send out. It does also show that you can do all this yourself and don't need these so called expert claims companys. Of all my PPI claims, I now only have one that has not paid up and that one is with the FOS, so may be some time yet. Just remember "Never Give Up: Never Surrender". Jedicris
  11. Hi, Further update. Letter from FOS has arrived. They have opened my letter and placed my complaint onto their system. What colour paint next, I wonder?
  12. Hi, Just an update on this. Plan B, which was to re-submit my claim to Barclaycard, has come to an end. Barclaycard have now responded that Egg are in fact responsible and have passed my complaint onto Egg. LOL. Well, we know where that will lead to. It has only taken them since May to decide this. Good job Plan A is under way. Sent the Egg rejection off to FOS in May as well, so they should get around to opening it soon. Hey Ho! I'm getting good at watching this paint dry.
  13. Hi, Just to update you. Letters received from Co-op and Experian today, stating that OH's credit file has now been updated and is now showing correct info. Thanks for the help and advice. Jedicris
  14. Well, Now turning my attentions to Halifax and reclaiming the charges they slapped on my credit card. Sent my prelim letter off on the 03/08/12 and have today received my response, which was a resounding no. They assert that the charges are fair. I have attached their letter. So in for another fight. I presume the next step is a letter back challenging them. Any advice, help or pointers gratefully received. Many thanks Halifax CC response page 1.pdf Halifax CC response page 2.pdf
  15. Hi Brig, Thanks for that and the offer of drafting a letter. I should be OK with the letter (already done) keeping it fairly short and sweet. Thanks
  16. Hi Brig, This is new report, only arrived today. Date of report is 19 July 2012. Account shows closed as of 22/06/07. Last update shows as of the 08/07/07. Settlement date shows as 29/06/07 and balance was cleared on the 20/06/07.
  17. Hi Brig, Thanks, there is no default showing (as per the extract) and OH was told at the time that the account was clear.
  18. Hi, No, nothing else showing anywhere. All other entries are perfect. I have attached an extract from the report showing the info. cra extract.pdf
  19. Hi, Need some help on how best to deal with this. My OH today received her credit report which showed an entry for a current account with Co-operative Bank. She closed the account in 2007. The entry shows an overdraft balance of £156. However her statements show a balance of £0. Plus, would they have allowed the account to be closed if there was still an amount owing. Any advice please on how best to deal with this. Thanks
  20. Hi Slick, Don't get me wrong, I'm satisfied with the refund but due to my history with Barclaycard I just wanted to check that what they paid was about right. As for the PPI aspect with Barclaycard, that has recently come to a satisfactory conclusion. This charges refund should now finish any involvement I may have with Barclaycard. I have now cleared any balance owing to them, so am clear of their clutches. HOORAY! Jedicris
  21. Hi Slick, Thanks for replying. Answers to your questions are below:
  22. Hi, Amongst all my issues with Barclaycard was the question of penalty charges. So while the battle with my SAR was going on, I thought I would try to reclaim penalty charges which I had, I discovered, been added to my account while paying through a DMP. So, sent off the letter asking for them back and heard nothing further. Yesterday, for the first time in 2.5 years, I received a statement from Barclaycard (another issue). On the statement were two credit entries. One for refund of penalty charges (last 6 years worth) and refund of interest. The total for penalty charges did equal what had been paid but the interest payment was nowhere near what the credit card charges spreadsheet calculated. (It works out to approx 8%). Is it usual for these payments just to appear out of the blue on statements with no formal letter of complaint being upheld and is it worth trying to get the interest paid at a higher rate? Jedicris
  23. I think you need to get another banl account as soon as possible. I know you say that you have tried and found it impossible but try again, this time try for one of the very basic accounts that the banks have to offer but don't tell anyone about. The Co-op do one, and they say that no credit checks are done. Might be worthwhile to check their website. I believe that the account can only be opened in branch or on the phone and you need the usual forms of id. "Just call us on 0845 602 7057 or visit your local Co-operative Bank branch to apply", from the website. Jedicris
