Can anyone help? My partner ( engaged, not married ) signed his car over to me ( via DVLA) in October last year, he has outstanding finance on the car through southern finance which, with their knowledge, i have taken over paying. He unexpectedly and very suddenly passed away January 16th. His father - who is sorting out his estate, told me verbally that i could keep the car, but i have now heard rumours that his family want it back. Where do i stand? The finance company are ok with me paying the loan off, ( do i have to do this, does his debt not die with him?) and the log book is in my name. Obviously for sentimental as well as financial and practical reasons, i would love to keep the car. Nx
