Hi there The vehicle is 2001. Nissan say that the noise is not to be expected but I rather thought they might say that. The local Nissan dealership echo the same sentiment. I wasn't sure what to do next and wanted to know if anyone had a similar experience and whether it was just an embarrassing consequence of owning this year and type of vehicle or something that may be more serious. We bought the vehicle second hand and the previous owner said it had made this noise all the time he had had it and he understood that it was just something it did (characteristic). Anyone who can offer any information would be most useful. Thanks.

Hi all Have a Nissan Navara which makes a dreadful crunching noise on full lock. People stop and stare it's so loud. My garage say this a common problem and nothing can be done but I have to say I don't notice it when I see other trucks parking. Can anyone out there offer any advice?

Thanks JonCris I did think about that once the shock had died down. Shock and panic because the van will be ready just at the same time as the tax man cometh and the VAT for the last quarter is due (end July) so that's a bit more money to find. Not whinging just warning.

Hopefully this will not be as shocking to you as it has been to me. My husband has commercial insurance for his van (small business). We recently made an accident claim. Did you know that if, as a business, you are VAT registered, you are responsible for paying the VAT on the repairs in addition to your excess amount. We didn't until know. In our case we have to find another £700.00 (estimate at the moment) on top of the excess before we can get the van back from the garage. Of course we can claim this back in our next VAT return but unfortunately, this won't be until October. Insurance companies are VAT exempt and this is their way of getting the tax man to pay part of the bill. Fair you might think, just not for us. Be warned.

Hello, I'm very confused. I have recently received a Notice to Pay Excess Charge for overrunning my stay in a car park. I won't bore you with the reasons why I was late but I did bore the Council. They took no notice at all and the charge still stands. I intend to continue fighting my corner and my question is in relation to the legality of the ticket. Does anyone know what specific rules apply to Excess Charge Notices and what information has to be contained within it. I think I understand that they are different from PCNs as they are issued by Parking Attendants and not Traffic Wardens or Police and therefore come under different law. Like I say, I've got confused with the differences. The ticket makes reference to Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 - Section 32(1) & 35(1) and West Wiltshire (Off Street Parking Places) Order 2005 which is different to the statute mentioned by others in this post. Also, I was stupid enough to wait and allow the Parking Attendant 3/4 minutes to finish writing the ticket. I didn't think I was stupid at the time, merely courteous. The time on the ticket was the last thing she wrote, checking her watch before she finished it. Anyway, I digress, what I really need to know if anyone out there can help is the rules applying to what should be printed on the Excess Charge Notice. Please forgive me if I should have started a new thread or if I have pushed in on this. This is the first time of posting although, possibly not the last.
