  1. Hi, I'm hoping someone can give me some advice here. I'm currently trying to help my dad sort out his debts. The main thing he is having problems with is Welcome finance. Him and his then wife took out a loan secured against the house about 7 years ago. they have been making payments every month until a year ago when his wife left. My dad was then left trying to pay the mortage, loan, and all other bills. When the wife stopped paying anything he called Welcome and told them he wouldnt be able to pay the full payments each month but the house was up for sale so he would be clearing soon anyway. He has since then had nothing but problems from them, they have refused a payment agreement, they keep increasing the amount he owes by more than a months payment each time, they constantly harrass him at home and work-one day they called while he was at work 6 times in an hour and every time I told them he was at work!. He told them last week he has accepted an offer on the house so he will sort everything out soon. Their next move was to contact the estate agent the house is with and try to get details of the sale from them -even told the agents who they were and why they wanted the info...data protection?- Personally I feel he should offer them a settlement amount and hope the accept to just get rid of them. Is there a best way to do this or a certain amount anyone thinks they will accept? Any other advice for dealing with these guys? The seem to be complete cowboys? Should I write direct to head office or to the branch he has been dealing with?
  2. thats great, thanks for the advice. I will do that and get it sent off straight away
  3. I sent Nationwide a SAR's request at the beginning of September around the 9th enclosing a cheque for £10 to cover the charge. The cheque was cashed about 10 days later the funds left my account and since then I have heard nothing from Nationwide. I requested the SAR's as I need to information to continue a PPI claim for my credit card but I am unsure what to do next do I need to contact Nationwide again and request they sent this information?
  4. His details are on the V5 as registered keeper. I was told he was a private seller but have now been informed he has 3-4 other cars parked in the same place as this one. he rents space from a garage to store and sell his cars on.
  5. Hi, Hoping someone can advise. My partner brought a second hand car a week ago from a private seller. the car seemed fine and he was told it has had a re-conditioned engine put in by the mecanic he was buying it from. he asked all relevant questions about belts being changed ect and was assured this had all been done when the engine was changed. The car was then brought home and we were using this fine and very happy with it. untill about 3 days later when the car started smoking when started up, my partner checked the oil and noticed this was very low, so topped this up and thought that was the problem.. the car seemed to stop smoking for a day or 2 and then started again, checked oil again and again oil was almost empty. now the car is smoking constantly. We are planning to go back to the person we brought from tomorrow and are just looking for some advise on if we have any rights in this case. We have a reciept but thats it?
  6. Hi, Hope someone can help. My partner works in a distribution warehouse as a picker. While on shift tonight him and others have been asked to go into another section to help them get delivery out quicker. my partner went in and waited to see a manger, he explained to the manager he did not feel comfotable working in an area where he is not fully trained and felt if anything went wrong he would be held responsible, the manager got quite annoyed he was refusing but agreed to send him back to his own department and took his name down "for later". Can his work punish him for refusing to work when he felt it was not safe?
  7. Hi, Im just really looking for some advice. My other half has just started a new job and one of the things stated in his contract is no member of staff while on shift is allowed to leave the site at any time, the company state that as the breaks are paid its up to them and any staff that leave site will be sacked. Can anyone advise if they can stop people leaving site or not?
  8. Hi, new to this so not sure if this is right but need some advice. I was recently helping my Grandmother move house and in packing we discovered a bank passbook for Nationwide for a savings account my Grandad had opened for me when I was born, this was in both my grandad and my names and my Gran was completely unaware of this. We opened the book and could see a few entries over a couple of years. Well as my Grandad passed away about 15 years ago and my Gran is now housebound I took the book to the branch to find out if the account was still valid ect as it had been so long. I explained all to the person at the desk and handed over the book. She looked at the inside passed the book back and explained that "she would need to see my grandad" shocked I again explained that that would be pretty hard. She then told me there was nothing she could do then and walked away. I feel this was not really acceptable but to be honest I am completely at a loss as to what if anything I can do futher. I was not even bothered about the money as its not going to be very much its the principle of the fact my grandad wanted me to have it and the attitude of the woman in the branch which stunk. Can anyone give me any advice on if I can do anymore or should I just forget about this and move on?
