Hi I am 3 months into a 12 month lease. I have paid 6 months rent up front which takes me to the beginning of april. I dont want to stay here past april - I dont have a break clause in my contract. Does anyone know if it would be possible to get out of this contract without paying the other 6 months remaining rent. I know I will have to pay some kind of penalty. Anyone know how to go about this with the minimum financial loss. Regards callii123

Hi Wonder if anyone can help. I am looking to rent a property at the moment and some of the houses I have seen seem to be reasonably priced while others seem very much overpriced. I was wondering if it was the done thing to haggle over the price of a rental property? Somebody told me that you never pay the advertised price for a rental but I have never heard of this before.

Hi, wonder if anyone can help with this- I am unemployed at the moment and will shortly be moving into a rental property with a private landlord. I have been told by various rental agencies that because I am not working I will have to pay 6 months rent upfront. As I have just received a small inheritance (which does not take me over the £16,000 H Ben limit) I can pay this amount initially but can I claim H Ben back for the six months I will have paid upfront once it has been paid ?
