  1. Hi,everyone. It is my first post in the froum.Hope you can help with us.First of all, let me just introduced some background. There are three of us decided to live together. We rented the four-bedroom house from agency, and before we moved in and sign up the contract, we asked whether our deposit is put into DPS. They said YES, and we decided to take the house. However after we did the little research on the internet. We never received any letter from DPS. I think he didn' t put us into DPS, and holding the deposit of £3000.We also never recieved any check in and check out form which the check in guy said landlord will sent it to us. After we end of our tenancy at 1st August, I txted the landlord said we already notify all utility company about our moving and Thames River going send us the last bill around 11th. Once I received the bill, I go directly to the bank paid off all balance. I do agree we are too naive. Landlord txt me ask to clean the house, I do clean the house own my own. I should hire someone professional to do this. He asked us to scan all the bill back, we are all full-time worker. So we asked he can checked with all the company and confirm the payment we made. And he agreed. He asked for our new address to send the cheques, there is three of us signed the contract, however one of the tenant is not at UK. We asked him whether he can directly to the deposit back to our bank account. He insist to return the deposit in Cheque. we asked the other tenant. She agreed landlord can send us 2 cheques and we can give her the deposit. And we let the landlord know, he agreed and said he is prepare the cheque. After an whole month, we still didnt receive our cheques.so we sent another email ask about our deposit. He replied at 4th Septsaid ,he still waiting for our final bill..... it is so ridiculous. He agreed in the first time and need it again. But never mentioned to us. The last thing we know is he prepare the cheque. He also said it is the final notice he gave it us to sent him over all the bill. I feel so angry, and reply him this is the final notice we are giving to him to delay return our deposit. If he really need the bill, he should let us know, instead looks like you already sent the cheque to us. So we sent him all the bill at 05/09, and again he sent an email ask for the eletrioncity final reading. Don't mention the check out guy already did it, it shows clearly in the bill about the meter reading. We sent him agian, and warn him all the bill already sent he should give us depsoit by the end of that week. However, he sent an email again at last Saturday. He said he asked for our bill so many times and he still didn't received any from us....we don't know what should we say. At 12/09, we finally received our deposit cheque. We paid 3000 pound deposit, however we only received 2,230 back. Even though he sent an breakdown, all the payment look overcharged. He charged our 'check out fee'£120(we already paid to agency before we moved in),"cleaning" for £350,‘painting’ £100(he said he is so good to us make the discount from 150 to 100), also "supply, hob and light buld" £ 200. He sent us the breakdown with receipt, however everyone can make the receipt just write down the company name and amount. Dont mention the cosntruction team is his partner. When we still live in the house, he decided to change our house into 3 ensuite house, and spend almost an whole month to do the cosntrution when we lived in the hosue . He owns a lot house in our community, and also let the same team do the work. I sent he the email about we are not agree to the deduction, he said you can check out with the new tenant about the new hob.....however, when we leave the hob is working, it maybe as clean as new one for us not hiring any professional to do this. Why shoud we paid for 200 pound of exchange hob, supply and light buld. We feel so exhausted and helpless. Hope everyone can help us!!!
