  4. thank you for your response. Good news, the car company rang my brother today and have offered him his money back and his old car ack. We were very surprised, but its nice to know there is some good people and organisations around. Angel
  5. Hi desperatley need some advice. My brother was purchasing a car from a car dealer and has had huge problems insuring it. The registeration wasn't showing up on any website (comparison sites) and his insurance company couldn't find it either. After lots of tooing and froing with the dealers, they are now saying that the car was initially registered in Cyprus and then registered in the UK. The insurance company are now quote well over £2,000 extra insurance which is well over what he is paying now My brother wants his deposit back of £300.00. He was going to take finance. He has alread
  6. Well done, been following the case from the begining, you have great determination and have stood up for your rights.
  7. Hi all, Just a quick update. Sent a letter to barclays saying I would accept their offer and today the money has appeared i my bank account. I didn't sign the final offer form, so the claim is still open if circumstances change and I can make a claim for the full amount in the future. a semi - result. Thanks for everyones support xx
  8. Thanks Bookworm Yes, there is an address on the statement, I'll start with that and see where I get. I will keep updating as things progress.
  9. Hi, I'm starting a new claim against halifax credit card. Daft question, is the address the same for credit cards as for other halifax correspondances. Thanks
  10. Yes, good idea, I wasn't going to send the standard slip back anyway, I felt that that was too easy and inpersonal!! Need to let them know I haven't finished yet. They may have won this battle partly, but the war is far from over.
  11. that was all the CCCS said literally, I do feel that it is best not to rock the boat at the moment and when the debt is paid off then claim. I only owe a small amount to barclays but larger amounts to credit card companies and if i win anything the cccs will probably want the whole amonut to share propotionally among all the creditors and this may not clear the barclays amount. Therefore going to accept money and quit whilst ahead and as I see it not a bad result. Thanks for everyone support, will continue to look at the forum and follow other cases, good luck everyone.
  12. Just got a reply back from the CCCS and to quote "as yet they don't know" and that was all they said. Doesn't help much really, never mind off out now, going to have to rethink, again !!!!
  13. sorry, cccs - consumer credit counselling services, a voluntary service that talks to creditors on your before to come to a manageable agreement for repaying debts. Other similar agencies are the citizen advice bureau and payplan. They don't charge for their services, not like these companies advertised on the t.v, they get me so mad pretending to help when they are obvioulsy not. One was one watchdog last night. DMP - debt managemnt plan, the agreement you come to with the creditors
  14. I've also been having problems understanding excel, well explained, sounds so simple now!!! thanks
  15. Just been reading another thread regarding cccs DMP, if i take the claim to the next stage or to the small claims court, this will apparantmy make the DMP nul and void. At the moment the DMP is very important to maintaining family stabilty, so i am going to contact the cccs in the morning to ask for their advice. If it means accepting the 'goodwill offer' and sticking to the plan, then that is priority. Hopefully, I will be able to go ahead as I feel that the charges are partly responsible for the DMP, as well as bad budgeting. I have definately learnt a hard lesson regarding finances and a
