Redundancy overpayment
Tillymint2 replied to Tillymint2's topic in Employment and minimum wage problems
Many thanks for your reply. I received my payment in March last year with a big chunk of it going to my very understanding Landlady for underpaid rent with another chunk going to keep the rent upto date until I was able to get another job at the end of June last year. The overpayment is only a couple of hundred pounds but I live in a mainly tourist town and most of the jobs available are mainly seasonal. I was lucky enough to obtain a permanent position although it is only part time , with my work hours decreasing in the "off season". As you can imagine I am on a very tight budget and there is very little, if any, room for manouver. I do not feel inclined to sign their statement but I am going to make an appointment with the CAB next week after trying again to root out my paperwork. -
The Company I used to work for went into Administration in October 2009, this resulted in me being made redundant in December 2009. My redundancy payment was paid by the Redundancy Payments Office. Today I received a letter from the Administrators stateing that I was overpaid. They enclosed my statement of claim, they have asked meto sign and return this to enable the RPO to commence overpayment action. I can not find my paperwork and to be honest I thought this was all done and dusted, I can not afford to repay this. Should I sign and return the statement? The Administrators are not answering the phone on either of the two numbers given ..... straight to Answserphone
