Hi there - need some help! I was in a flatshare from July 2010 - July 2011. Only 2 of us moved out at the end of last month, while the other two chose to stay. We have now replaced ourselves with new tenants However - my landlord (who is also my letting agent) won't return my deposit. He says that he cannot give me any deposit money until the new tenant gives him their deposit. He keeps insisting that the new tenant give me the deposit, but seeing as I gave him the money I want to get it from him alone. Can he legally withold the money from me for this reason? I am struggling with him, and he is being incredibly difficult about it. Speedy replies appreciated!
