  1. Hmm. I'll try with words only for now. My friend's written English is poor so it's best if I do it. The pic on the PCN shows his car on Atlantic Road turning to enter Electric Lane. There are stills and video posted on the council web site, showing him passing the sign. According to the sign and the time stamp on the camera, vehicles are not allowed into the pedestrian zone until 2pm, and the current time is 1.35pm. The signage about the pedestrian zone restriction seems to meet the standard. There are signs on both sides of the road. There are no signs on the two streets in the photos to say that Lambeth uses CCTV to enforce moving traffic laws. As far as I know there are no signs about this anywhere in the borough. Nobody is aware that this is going on until they get a PCN. There is no CCTV policy on the council web site, although someone told me there was one in the past. The only info provided on the site is a very sparse guide which says "Penalty Charge Notices (PCN) are issued either on the street by our Civil Enforcement Officers (CEOs) or by CCTV camera. PCNs can be issued for breaking both parking and traffic rules, including for driving in a bus lane." There's also a downloadable spreadsheet file of the CCTV locations. At each end of Atlantic Road there are small repeater signs with a symbol indicating the use of police traffic cameras. (There are no words.) The camera which shot the video is at top of a 30+ feet pole. The camera and pole are matt black. As the offence was committed 25 minutes before it would have been legal, perhaps the synchronisation or maintenance of the clock in the camera is something which could be challenged? Any constructive comments would be gratefully received!
  2. I'm asking for advice on behalf of a friend who has received a PCN in lovely, loony Lambeth. He only has 4 days to deal with this at the discounted rate. I have lots of pics to post but my post count is too low! Aaaarrrggghh!
  3. So how did this work out? I have a similar case in lovely Lambeth.
  4. Greetings to all you fellow residents of Dell Hell. I'm trying to get warranty repairs done, and the tech support guy is making two points that I don't agree with: 1) if the warranty is in force when the machine is collected, but it expires while it's at the Dell service centre, the customer has to pay for the repair 2) batteries and rubber feet are consumables, and the warranty only covers them for 6 months. I have Next Business Day cover for my machine (an Alienware M11X). But I can't find any documents on the Dell site which say what the terms are. To complicate matters, I bought the machine from a third party (ASM Direct) in January 2011. It was new, but the warranty info on the Dell site says that the warranty commenced in Feb 2010. So I assume the machine was a cancelled order, which Dell then sold to ASM. The warranty expires in May 2012. So maybe the original customer bought a 15 month extended warranty? The tech support guy hasn't tried to make an issue out of the way that I purchased the machine. I gave him my receipt from ASM, and he's saying that my warranty cover started from the day I bought it. Which I suppose is good news. Maybe it means I'm covered until April 2013?
