  1. I don't understand this post. Private sale, bent MOT? What bent MOT? The MOT is worthless relatively speaking as soon as you drive off the premesis.

You saw the ad, negotiated a price down to reflect what you found??? ALLEGED bent MOT????

Sorry silly but me thinks this one down to you.

Rule of thumb is if you don't know or are unsure of what you are buying, get someone who does!!!!

Hardly worthless, a current MOT is a requirement to tax your car for the road. In this scnario if it has been taxed using a fraudulent MOT certificate this needs to be addressed too

  2. Hi there, I'm a former IT professional so this is all standard practise for me. 2525 isn't open on my server but there are other avenues I can try (once we get online at our new house, my support people are superb). I'm making a fuss because the average home user won't have my expertise and will experience a brick wall at Orange. I'm hoping to help them with a solution...

what do you mean isn't open on your server? How do you think you will help them with a solution. They blocked port 25 in Jan of this year, this is done to stop relaying, this is a very common policy to stop spamming

You can also use port 465

  3. Pop is for collection, not sending.

Of course my bad, in that case use SMTP on port 2525.

To check to see if they block port 2525 do the following

Click on the Start menu button, usually located at the lower left corner of the screen. There is a tab called "Run". Click it and a new window will pop up. In the text field of this window you need to type cmd and then press the "Enter" key. Another window will open. It is the so called "MS-DOS prompt" or "command prompt". Just type the following command in the command prompt window and press "Enter": telnet my-domain-name.com 2525

  4. If it had a Windows Vista product key on the laptop then that shows that the laptop is both upgradeable from XP and capable of running the Vista O/S. What was actually installed after the sale? if it was Windows 7 then this would have been a fresh install as there is no upgrade path from XP -> Windows 7. In my opinion the hardware is not capable of running Windows 7 and should never have been installed. Do you have the DVD's that came with the laptop, the buyer could re-install XP from those to the "out of the box"

  5. copied off the direct gov website. Im presuming if short term visitors should be ok. May be best to ask Council though.

You must tell your local council if:

any of your children leave school or leave home

anyone moves into or out of your home

your income, or the income of anyone living with you, changes

    your capital or savings change

    your rent changes

    you move

you or your partner or civil partner are going to be away from home for more than a month

  6. try safeloans.co.uk never had any probs with them, and if you borrow 100pound for a week it will only cost you about 8pound. plus they dont offer crazy sums think the highest they lend out is about 200. you can also make small payments before the actual payday if wanted, unlike alot of these payday companies that only let you pay of the interest if you roll over.

    Representative example:

    The Amount of Credit: £160.00

There is One Repayment of Credit on Day 30

    The Total Amount Repayable: £206.40

The Rate of Interest is Fixed 2120.1% APR

The APR is 2120.1% APR Representative.

2120.1% APR? thats madness, are these APR rates legal ?
