  1. Hi all! I have banked with HSBC now for around 15 yrs, always been a good customer (within terms etc) Was made redundant a year ago, and husband s/employed work dropped. Managed to keep on top with payout until last couple of months. Bounced a couple of direct debits. Contacted them for assistance (have 1.5k overdraft, paid down from 3k last year) and was told nothing they can do. Then got call from their collections, and made agreement to pay in each week small amount from husbands pay until my new job paid me end of month and gradually catch up. Stuck to agreement completely. Then had letter for £280 of charges! Managed to complain and get these refunded but apparently there is no record of our arrangement. On Thursday I noticed a utility had no plan in place - checked my online banking, every single DD had been cancelled! Phoned bank - again told no record of arrangement, and that they can do that. Advised that I should have been notified prior but nothing! Livid - Im not chasing tails to get everyone paid as they wont re-instate any! People are always advised when struggling to contact those you owe/bank with - no point with HSBC they seem to like bleeding you dry with charges so that no one else gets your money. Hopefully my Natwest application will go thro! x
