Yes it is the Arndale. Until 2018 it had always been free to park there then they introduced charges. I'm guessing the carer might have thought it was still free for 3 hours.

Husband is a wheelchair / mobility scooter user. He has a wheelchair vehicle and a blue badge. I've received a letter from "ES Parking Enforcement" saying that he was parked for too long in a town centre car park. I'm not sure who owns the car park, could it be the Local Authority? He was out with his carer, the carer was driving (husband can't, on medical grounds). Searching online it looks as if the first 30 minutes are free and then a fee is charged. There are a lot of complaints, saying that this isn't clearly stated (the car park used to be free) and many people are getting caught out. The carer is very responsible and would have made sure to buy a ticket if they'd realised. I can't discuss this with my husband as he won't remember. Is there anything I can do, or do I have to pay up? Thanks

Hi, this is my first post. I'm concerned I may owe some council tax, but I can't find any definite answers by searching the internet. This is my situation. I live with my husband and non-dependant son in our own home (mortgaged). Husband receives DLA MR Care and HR Mobility. Social services / council adapted the bathroom for him by installing an attendant shower, and put in a stair lift, but no other changes have been made. I receive IB (not changed yet to ESA) and CA as an underlying benefit. Together we claim IS. Husband is over 60. Our son works part time on minimum wage, and this is the part that concerns me. When we claimed he gave them wage slips and details of his job and we paid £10 a month council tax. The following year they said we had nothing to pay, and this has been the same each year. They haven't asked for recent wage slips but my son's hours were the same, and the only increase was as the minimum wage goes up. He works for a small independent shop, and in the last few months there have been some massive changes. First everyone's hours were cut to 16 1/2 a week. So of course his wage dropped. But then he was offered some extra hours as overtime, which he gladly took. To make it more complicated, he works shifts, and just now the rota is changing all the time. So one week, for example, he worked almost 40 hours, then he didn't go in for 5 days. Do they work it on a weekly basis, so the 40-hour wage cancels out the benefit for that week? Or do they average it over a few weeks? I'd like to find out the facts before I inform them. Thanks for any help you can give me.
