  4. Hi Just read your thread re landlords certificate. It has been law since 1995, and the HSE (Health& Safety Exec) take tehs ematters quite seriously, and substancial penalites are being handed down in the courts fro non-compliance. Every month in our trade magazine published by Gas Safe Register there are shorts from the courts regarding successful prosecutions of landlords and thier so called plumbers, many of them who are working for the landlords and not legally qualified. The issue of a Gas Safety Certificate confirms that the entire gas installation, boiler, fire - if fitted, gas hob / cooker, pipework, meter, earthing, safety emergency controls are all present and working correctly as defined in the Gas Safety (Installation & Use) Regulations. There have been many fatalities due to unsafe gas appliances, and the law is therefore enforced rigourously and without any excuses. Without the gas cert, you cannot be sure that the appliances are safe and fit for purpose, and the landlord has done himself no favours by continuing to ignore this. Make aformal complaint to the HSE - here is the link http://www.hse.gov.uk/gas/domestic/faqtenant.htm As a professional gas engineer for the past 35 years, I have no compassion whatsoever for landlords who flout and ignore the law. they are just interested in money, and it always makes my day when I read about another successful prosecution by the HSE. Beileive me - they do act quickly. Hope you get it sorted.

I have been actively involved in the plumbing, heating and gas industries for the best part of 35 years, and quite frankly have come accross many horror stories involving landlords and rented properties. Its all about cheap cheap cheap. I have met many landlorsd who are just not aware of the gas regs, nor the landlord gas certification scheme which has been law since November 1995 approx. Dont let anyone in our house who claims to be a "builder", "plumber" or anyone else who cannot produce a Gas Safe Register ID Card. In my expereince, just because they are Gas Safe Regsitered, does not make them a good gas fitter / boiler breakdown diagnosis engineer - this comes with experience. All te GSR card means is that they have demonstrated the basic requirements in applying gas safety. Of late, the world and his brother want to be plumbers due to the ridiculous claims regarding the earning potentials in various media - not true. If you are still having problems send me your details to contact.gas.gg (webmail - not email) and I will tell you what is probably wrong with it if it hasn't neen sorted as yet.
  6. Just came accross your thread from last month. Have you got this boiler sorted yet, if not I have some sound advice for you.
  7. CD, its the MINDED TO bit that is important. Not knowing the internal workings of the OFT, this is probably an intention based on current findings. there will be an appeals process, and if they promise to be good boys in future, then they may keep them with sanctions - hopefully not the case here. Time to stuff certain collated website material / docs into the OFT to add fuel to the fire.

  9. Yet another poorly put together POC. I assume that they are saying that it was purchased from WF by HFOCL Cay Islds and then re-assigned to HFOCL (I) , which it does not state. It just refers to HFOCL twice without clearly stating who is who. they will now probably produce the heavilly redacted IC tfr agreement which we have previously seen and we do in fact have the un-redacted copy. I see that the reference at the bottom of the POC is "US" - well, we all know who that is Mr **ah-ha-ha
  10. Any action by the OFT would be collective, as the TR/HFO "puppetmaster" is one of the same. This wouldn't wash with the OFT if they tried that one.
  11. If London North Securities can be closed down by the OFT then so can this mob.
  12. Based upon the recent efforts of the OFT, that is a very big IF, and also the efforts of other certain websites publicising thier activities are still getting nowhere. Clearly we are not privy to the inner sanctums of the OFT, but lets just hope that they are in fact being proactive and taking the complaints seriously and actually acting upon them.
