  1. I have fallen into the payday loan trap over the last couple of years and am slowly getting myself back on track. Wonga was the first loan I ever took out and I serioulsy regret doing so. But anway, I'd defaulted on it and foolishly ignored it. It wasn't until I looked at my credit report for the first time ever today that I realised what I allegedly owe to them. My debt to them stands at over £1000 for what was a £500 loan. This, combined with my other defaults gives me a "very poor" credit score. I want to do everything I can to rectify the situation, and have spent today putting plans in place to improve my score. I'm just not sure what to do with wonga. I've not heard from them since some time in 2011, and even then most contact was by email, and has never been passed on to a DCA. Should I contact them to set up a repayment plan or hang fire and see if they ever do contact me?
  2. I've reported them, and emailed them to say I had done so. Got back some rubbish about how I agreed to this in my terms and conditions when I applied for the loan in the first place.
  3. Latest email from them "I have not heard back from you. I have spoken with your employer today who have taken the details in regards to the possible action. Please contact me urgently." What do I do? Surely they can't contact my employer?
  4. Just to update - I've heard nothing from them for months, apart from the odd letter from Opos, still demanding a total of what was no £700+. I received a text message, followed by an email from them, offering me to pay £150 as a full and final settlement. "To try and help you resolve this matter amicably and out of court OPOS would be in a position to accept £150 as a full and final settlement. With this settlement you would be saving yourself over £600! Once the account is settled your credit file will be repaired and you would also receive a letter of satisfaction. Explaining that this debt is completely clear and no-one will be chasing you for the remaining balance" Again, I know I don't owe them this but it would feel a huge weight off my shoulders if I could get minicredit off my case once and for all, and can concentrate on paying off the rest of my loans.
  5. Hi, just thought I'd give my 2 cents worth on my dealing with these people, might be of help to someone! Last week, I offered a payment plan of £50 a month to start on my next paydate (10th Sept) for my £600 debt, subject to a three month review, when I should have finished paying off some other debts and would be perhaps able to increase this amount. I also wanted to pay via standing order, and not give them my debit card details for obvious reasons! I already had their account details from one of their letters. I did this via the contact form on the website and received a reply the next morning. She said this plan would only be accepted if I commenced the payment straight away and provided them with my debit card details! Hastily I offered a £10 token payment as a 'willingness' to pay type thing, again stating I could do this via standing order. Reply came back that this would not reach them til September therefore she needed my debit card details. She must've thought I was born yesterday! Obviously her plan was to raid my account the second I passed my details over. I sent the £10 anyway, I probably didn't have to but I thought I'd stick to my word, just in case they get difficult later on I can say I've stuck to all my offers. And then out of curiosity I checked the sort code on the checker on the Payments Council website. Tuns out they accept Faster Payments, so my £10 payment would have cleared by the next working day at the latest, so all this "it wont reach us in time" was a load of bull! I sent her a nice, slightly snotty email back telling her this and.... nothing! Nice try love! I then noticed another reply from them, but from another worker who's reply was along the lines of "I can accept the offer, here's our account details......" None of this you must pay this month, you must pay by debit card rubbish the other person had sent me! Sorry this is a bit waffle-ish, just wanted to get it off my chest more than anything But like I said, it might be help to someone who is being pressured into giving their bank details or paying straight away. So if you get a poopy reply from them, hang in there and you might get another reply from someone else, failing that send the message again til you get a 'nice' (as nice as these folk can be!) person replying to you!
  6. Thanks, yeah I already have a new bank account and debit card after they raided my old account to get the £200+ they have already. Am I best still paying them the £175 I said I could? Wouldn't like to not pay it, then have them use that against me. Like I say, I know I don't have to pay them that, but if it puts an end to this carry on then so be it.
  7. Or is it yet another example of them being awkward so-and-so's? I took out a £100 loan before Christmas, and then didn't pay back. I've been a bit stupid with payday loans but am now in payment plans with all of them apart from minicredit. They refused. Since then they've taken at least £200 from me, yet are still claiming I owe them another £600. I've received letters regarding doorstep collections, yet nobody ever showed up, and have now had a letter threatening CCJ's etc. All a bit scary to be honest. In a bid to get them off my back I've emailed them with a settlement offer of £175, which is more than the original loan + one months interest. I know I've already paid more than this so 'technically' don't owe them any more money, but if I can pay that and be done with them, I'd rather do that than have to go through the courts. I just want them out of my hair now. They ignored the email (surprise surprise!) so I' sent it again. And again. And again, about 8 times in total in the last 10 days. Each time saying I'm happy to pay the £175 on my next pay date (this friday) to settle the account and only wish to communicate via email. It was only when I said I was complaining to the OFT & FOS that they replied, telling me I had to call them to make an offer and it must be paid immediately. I cannot afford to pay more than the £175, and to be fair I don't see why I should pay more than that. I'm worried that if they call them they'll either attempt to bully me into paying more, or raid my account when I give them my credit card details. Has anyone been able to pay their settlement by standing order? Are they likely to even accept my offer of £175? Thanks guys!
  8. Hi all I have recently got myself into a mess with several payday loans. I have set up payment plans with except for minicredit. My original loan was for £100 and taken out 2 months ago. (yet only received £80.50). As usual they've refused to accept payment plans and my total is now £400+. Looking at my online banking, they've taken around £200 from me in small chunks, £15-£25 a go. I received a letter about a month ago threatening a doorstep collector. I emailed them at their 'claims' email address and received a respsonse saying because a payment was made on 17th jan, the visit would be postponed for 30 days so I had til the 16th Feb to make another payment. Despite making another payment, I have today received a 'final doorstep collector' letter, saying someone will visit between 21st-28th feb. They're also stating they'd consider a settlement offer, which I am tempted to do even though they've already had more than the original loan plus a months interest. But I'm not sure how much to offer, considering they've already had £200. I just want them off my back. Any advice?
  9. Hi - thank you! yeah my wages are now paid into another account! Should I set up the standing order from my new account? Or would they be able to get those details?
  10. Hi, I'm new to the forums and currently in a bit of a mess with payday loans, however I am on the road to sorting them all out and paying them off. I'm due to start a repayment plan with Wonga this week, and I'm just wondering if the bank details for them stickied in this topic are still valid as I'm keen to set up the transfer myself. thanks.
