  1. No, there were never any penalties because until today I have always paid direct debit and above the minimum payment. I am just at such a loss as I really don't know which way to turn. I didn't take out the Payment Protection as I was in a really secure job at the time and it's only since I was in hospital that I was forced to give up work - I do plan to return to work but I'm unable for the next cfew months at least.
  2. I really appreciate any advice that anyone can offer on this. I have held an Egg card for many years now and have always paid a good chunk off it every month and never defaulted a payment. I own a flat in UK which I have mortgage and rent out now. For work purposes I had to leave and go to a EU country and I let out my flat (but my card is still registered as being there.) I was then hospitalized in Greece and had to stop working and for the last year I have been living on savings. I have, so far, always made my payments to Egg but my savings are about to run out and I don't know what to do. The credit card bill is 6000 ukp and is my only debt. I have absolutely no money whatsoever to continue paying...since I'm in the EU am assuming by looking at others responses that to stop paying would mean they will track me here but I really cannot see any other way out (unless I wait to sell my house but how long could that take in this climate?) PLEASE HELP!! THANK YOU SO MUCH!! Sofia x
