  1. Sorry my first post here is a request for knowledge but I've got to start somewhere I have been with Lloyds TSB for a very long time and about ten years ago instead of receiving my post like normal it instead began to be sent to my father, despite numerous phone calls, letters and visits to my local branch by me, my father and my mother whom my father shared a joint account with at Lloyds TSB this matter was never resolved for more than a month at most with one maybe two letters being sent to me whilst the majority reverted back to being sent to my father. In 2003/2004 I had some difficulty with a credit card and the insurance paperwork as I was made unemployed I elected to use the insurance I had brought from Lloyds and waited to receive it, over the next few months I was repeatedly chased by lloyds debt collection services even though they were informed I was waiting for paperwork which it now transpires was sent to my father who seeing threatening letters from the bank took them into the branch and ordered lloyds tsb people to stop sending them to him. I had previously informed them of my address change due to a falling out with my family but no attention was paid and I was penalised with a judgement against me. After several years of battling to sort out my finances and seeking advice on how to deal with this issue I managed to not only complete the insurance claim, I was forced to go through the actual insurers to get the paperwork as once again it was sent by them people to my father and not only did it cover the cost of the credit card debt it appears it was a completely valid claim all along. And once this was completed I was advised by my solicitor to approach the courts and explain the situation to them, the courts ruled on the evidence presented and the judgement was removed. That was in 2009 and since then I have been advised to once more come to Lloyds and ask them to stop sending my highly personal bank details to my father and pay the compensation that is deserved for the high levels of stress, distress and financial hardship you have put me through. I contacted them people and they assured me that the problem was fixed, on the very day the letter was posted to me confirming this my father received another letter from the same person regarding my bank account. Naturally I was not amused and sent this straight back to the department handling the complaint. I was reassured it was a small oversight and that it wouldn’t happen again. Before this happened I sent my complaint to the Information Commissioner's Office who investigated it and found that lloyds had in fact acted inappropiately and defacto illegally with my personal data. And were ordered to sort out my accounts and details, this was on december 14th 2010. On January 11th 2011 not even one month after I was promised the problem was fixed my father received not 1, but 2 letters addressed to him from Lloyds TSB, one containing my new debit card and the other my new pin number, naturally I was not amused and immediately contacted the ICO with this information, they advised that they would investigate and take legal action as necessary and advised me to seek legal council if I wished to seek compensation (the lady I spoke to dealt with it first time round and knows what I have been through due to this). I went and saw the solicitor as suggested and he has been in contact on my behalf with lloyds TSB and the ICO and has informed me that the ICO is going to begin court proceedings against Lloyds over this matter and can fine them upto £500,000 and that I should begin my own court proceedings against them as they continue to make me suffer. My problem and questions for those with more knowledge than me is. Is this worth taking further or should I just let the ICO take them to court and seek justification in the result they get or should I begin my own case against them in which case what should I seek in damages. Is there an alternative to court, is this something the Financial Ombudsman Service can handle as going to court scares the be-jesus out of me thanks and sorry it's so long winded. Sandw0rm
