  1. well i went to pick the netbook up this morning and the assistant handed me an msi box that was sealed up , which imediatly i thought was strange as they hadnt taken my daughters msi box off me in the first place went it went off for repair . the box looked pretty ancient as did the msi notebook that was inside ! i imediatly said ..hey this isnt our notebook , we never handed it in the box , they took just the netbook and battery originally . wrapped it up in front of us in bubble wrap and sealed it with tape . ours was 7 weeks old in mint condition and this is obviously a lot older whats going on here ? i got the well maybe they put it in the box to keep it from getting damaged ? and i said with someone elses receipt and guarentee ? with the additional software ? your having a laugh ! then they opened the wrapping on the msi and suprise suprise the netbook had no battery ? then i said where is the repair report and enclosed with the netbook was a blank repair report with nothing on it at all except my name and address ? and Retuned without repair on it !! no detailed report on the so called water damage and suprise suprise the seriel number of the netbook inside the box didnt correspond to the one on my repair report . not only that the seriel number on the box it was contained in had a totally different seriel number !! absolute joke ! so what do we have from argos ? 3 different seriel numbers on paperwork ! a netbook that looks about 12 months old with a seriel number totally different to the one on the box in which it was contained ? the box enclosed a guarentee and reciept for a netbook that dodnt match the netbook inside the box ? Said netbook has no battery ? we have a repair report with my name on with a totally different seriel number to the laptop in the box and a repair report with no report on it as to what damage has occurred ? with just returned for repair ! so now its whose netbook is whose , wheres the battery gone , why didnt i get the report completed etc etc total farce ..now i have to go back tomorrow to find out what the hell is going on !!! will let you know xx
  2. naxxas ..thank you so much , i have on your advice contacted a local pc repair place who do some sort of diagnostic on the netbook and dont charge you but as they have to take the back off to get to the motherboard to confirm / refute argos's claims there will be a small charge . will let you know how i get on ...
  3. I purchased a MSI u135 netbook from argos on the 8th dec 2010 .£199. It was an xmas gift for my 27 year old daughter . Obviously she did not recieve the item from me untill 25th December . My partner had set it up for her and mentioned to me that the space bar and the mouse appeared to be very stiff & a little bit unpredictable . Ie it would open 2o windows with 1 click etc . However we thought as it was brand new maybe this was the reason why ? The internet worked fine . My daughter loved this item but within 2 weeks of se she was starting to get a bit fed up with the netbook appearing to have a life of its own . The mouse kept freezing and the space bar jamming . I went to her house mid january and she showed me what was happening ironically the system woud work fine with an external mouse ? we took it back to argos who said that as we had had the item for more than 30 days it would have to be sent away for repair . I had a telephone cal from argos today telling me that someone at msi ? hahad examined it and had fond the moher board to be water damaged and that a repair would cost £185 ! and that we were responsible for the water damage so we would have to pay this amount ! This item has never had any water damage to it ever . its only 8 weeks old as is in imaculate condition . i was furious ! Can anyone help with advice ? if the netbook was in perfect working order except for a mouse that froze and behaved erratically , and a space bar that just got stuck every now and again would you need to replace the mother board and why would it work ok if an external mouse was used ? are there any companys who we could pay to examine this item on our behalf to get a second opinion ? £185 for a repair to an item that cost £199 is a joke how can this be the case ? has anyone experienced this type of thing before with argos and other laptops etc ? any help would be very much apreciated .
