  1. Hi, my wife has a loan with Lloyds, we live in New Zealand. We wrote to Lloyds to say we could no longer repay the full monthly payments of 75 pounds and would be able to make a reduced monthly payment of 20 pounds. We got no reply to that, so my wife wrote a letter asking for there Direct Debit details so she could start paying the reduced amount. Lloyds wrote back saying they had no knowledge of the outstanding debts and all of my wifes accounts were closed and in credit. Now we have had a letter from SCE solicitors saying she owes the outstanding amount and it must be payed in full within 14 days. Shall we photocopy the 'no knowledge letter' and send it back to them stating that WE AND THEY do not acknowledge this debt. Thanks in advance
  2. Hi, I sent Barclaycard a letter saying I was now living in New Zealand and was unable to continue paying my barclaycard bills, of which I owe about 5000 pounds, and that I was willing to make a reduced minimum payment if they could stop the interest. They basically said no and have passed the debt on to their in-house collection agency mercers. Mercers have sent me a letter in New Zealand saying if I don't pay immediately they will send one of their local (lol) debt collectors round to my house (PO Box) to obtain payment. They have also warned me that they have the option to pursue the debt through the County Courts, and this would involve the issue of a County Court Summons. Can someone please advise me, I am under the impression that a CCJ cannot be obtained against me as I have resident status in NZ and will not be returning to live in the UK. And should I contact Mercers by letter to inform them that obtaining a CCJ against me is not possible as I am no longer a UK resident. Any help or advice is much appreciated.
  3. Looking for some advice / information, my wife and I emigrated to New Zealand one year ago, leaving behind some debt which we have been making regular monthly payments. I have in my name 4 credit card debts totalling £12000 split quite evenly over the 4 cards. My wife has a Lloyds personnel loan for £6000 and a credit card for £6000. We are currently coming to the Point where we cannot meet the monthly repayments. I have read on the Internet just walking away is a option as they are unable or unwilling to pursue the debt in NZ. The problem is my wife is a solicitor and so if they declare her bankrupt she would be unable to practice law in NZ. Does anyone think if we said to the various companies we can't keep this up, we want the interest stopped and we want the monthly repayments lowered as we are in NZ they would give in and accept it. Any advice or help would be greatly appreciated
