Marlin have set their internal DCA (BDR) on me. Rather telling I think, especially as they are offering me a 40pc discount if I pay now!! Skinnyribs please keep us updated on your situation. -

Nothing, no letters and I blocked their phone numbers. now 3 1/2 years since I told BPF to stuff it. -

Yes, I had noticed that. Also had a letter today from resolvecall asking me to contact them, I suspect they are part of Marlin from the way it has been written. It also lists the creditor as BPF. -

Don't forget the promise of a guaranteed job through the HUGE number of companies Advent were connected with, earning £20,000-£25,000 on completion of the Comptia A+ modules. Seriously still can't believe I was so sodding naive to trust a damn word from that salesman. -

Although I don't know if this applies to your specific case, it does to me, but may help: Advent course sold as an unlimited time course, replacement was not. Initial replacement Computeach course may not have been the same as you were on, although they did try to create ad-hoc courses several months later. (A little to late I'm afraid). Unlimited resits were part of the Advent deal, Computeach didn't offer this. Hope this helps with your arguments. -

They would probably just say that BPF sorted out an alternative and the matter is resolved Essentially yes. That depends on whether BPF still considered the matter in dispute or if they just dismissed it. Basically a matter of opinion. Off to work now. -

As far as my understanding goes, if you purchase a dept, you not only purchase the rights to that debt, but also the responsibilities and duties as well. I recently had an interesting conversation with a Marlin rep about this, and was told that I should take up the matter of my non existant course with Advent. I pointed out that this was a bit like trying to talk to a dead person. -

I will also amend and send this off, hopefully on Friday. But I am not sure what this will achieve, if the debt has been legally sold on to Marlin (dispite the dispute issue), then he will have very little say in what they do. -

Contacted Experian today, they are looking in to why I have two defaulted accounts for the same amount, and why the date of default that Marlin have is different to the one from BPF by 3 months. The farce continues... -

Well this thread just keeps getting more fun every day! Just checked my experian report, and this is getting interesting. As with everyone, I have a search by Lowell late last year, and an addition by marlin. This is where it gets interesting, both my deafulted accounts (BPF and Marlin) are showing the same amount, neither are shown as settled. Whats more, my account first defaulted in june 2010 (started june 2009, one year payment free), the entry for BPF says defaulted jan 2011, Marlin says Feb 2012 (a full year before they took over). And for a final WTF moment, I have an alert (addition or deletion) which states one of the accounts was settled on the 24 of feb 2012.... the company name? MARLIN. HAVE THEY PAID THEMSELVES? WTF!!! I will call experian in the morning to try and make sense of this. -

I remember asking the salesman a question to this very end, he replied that Advent would allow for the contract to be extended if it was required to complete the course. The way he said it made me believe that extensions were very common and were never turned down. I have also recieved this joyous news through the post today, sounds like it will be more fun (groan) in the next few months. It will be interesting to see just how much information Marlin actually have regarding the circumstances that we face, or for that matter if they will even have a clue what the loans were for in the first place. I will wait to see whether they employ the same empty threat tactics as BPF did before deciding my strategy. If they try to take me to court, then I will send off a CCA request, SAR etc, my gut tells me they will have nothing presentable. -

Well done to you Fuzz. I have a quick question though, will the court send you a detailed break down of the judges decision related to the issues you raised, or is that rather brief letter all you get? I only ask because the former would be like a silver bullet for the rest of us in court.
