  1. November last year I scrapped my car and sent off the V5. I didn't hear anything for a month, so I sent a letter saying the car was scrapped. Then I get a letter saying that the car wasn't taxed and I am being fined. I left this for a bit, but received another letter saying I am being fined. So I send another letter. I then start receiving letters from a debt collection agency. Finally the DVLA acknowledge my letter. They send a letter saying all is good, the car is no longer in my name, and I should ignore all other correspondence. Phew! Now the debt collection agency is still chasing for the money. They say I still owe it and they are going to take me to court. Rather stupidly I didn't send anything by registered post. So I have no evidence of sending anything. Where do I stand?
