Advice needed - reclaiming labour costs of refitting faulty worktop

Thank you so much! Sorry to be a pain, but that case, as far as I can find, is about tax - could it be a misspelling? Or am I looking in the wrong place? -
Advice needed - reclaiming labour costs of refitting faulty worktop
MMB replied to MMB's topic in General Retail
Anybody? Please? I have done some research into Consequential Loss, but am still not sure about whether or not I can claim this from them. Any advice at all would be much appreciated. -
Hi! I would like some advice please. I've recently had a kitchen fitted, with a wooden worktop. The worktop is made up of wooden strips (staves), glued together, rather than being one single slab of wood. In one place (and only one), two of the staves have separated, as though either the joint had not been properly glued, or the glue had not properly cured. Whilst the supplier seems willing to replace the worktop, they are so far adamant that they will not pay the fitter's labour costs. I don't think that this is fair, as the fitter has followed the supplier's fitting instructions to the letter, and the fault is clearly in the manufacturing process. Have I got any right to demand that they reimburse the kitchen fitter for the duplicated work in stripping out the faulty worktop and installing the new one (best part of two days work, including tiling and plumbing)? Thanks in advance!
