  1. I had a letter from Ross and Roberts about 3 weeks ago ref outstanding council tax for 2009 of £389.00. I had started paying the council back and because I missed one month they sent it to the bailiffs! I am currently up to date with this year's council tax. I have been trying to contact the enforcement officer ever since I got the letter to make an arrangment, but they never call back. Anyway, I knew I would have the money by Friday just gone, as I got paid and my boyfriend was lending me some too. In the meantime the bailiff called on Wednesday when I was at work and left a letter. I tried to call the mobile number back at the bottom of the page, but just kept getting an answer machine!!! I called Ross and Roberts direct on their call centre number and asked if I could make payment on my debit card over the phone, as the letter from the bailiff stated I could. Call centre girl says no, got to pay bailiff direct. I replied that I would if I could actually get hold of him. What did she suggest? Would have to keep trying. I asked was it another ploy to get another call out charge from me? Rung the council and asked them to accept the payment , and they refused stating I would have to pay the bailiff direct . I wouldn't mind if I was trying not to pay. I just want to get this bill paid and done with. Really frustrating....
  2. Hi all, Wonder if anyone can help. I was going through my paperwork recently and found a life insurance policy that I had with my ex husband, which has a cash surrender value. We took it out for our daughter for when she comes of age. My ex and I divorced in 2001 and he took over the payments of the policy, and I gave up my rights to it. I'm sure we sent in a deed of assignment to have the policy in his name solely at that time. However, I received a statement from them recently. I contacted them and advised them that I had not been on the policy since 2001 and it was now a sole policy in my ex husband's name. I advised them I had no claim or right to this policy and no longer wanted my name on the policy. I have put this in writing but they have said this not suffice. I will need a new deed of assignment to transfer it over to my ex, as they cannot find the original. Can they not send this form to me or do I have to go through a solicitor? I wouldn't mind if I was trying to claim the money.
  3. Hello . I am new to this site but have found so many things helpful and useful for managing my debt. However, my immediate concern is I have received a letter from Ross and Roberts for a council tax debt from 2009. The letter states that I must contact them within 14 days to pay the full amount or make an arrangement. I am unable to pay the full amount in one go, so need to make an arrangement. When I have contacted them on their main number I have been advised that I need to speak to the enforcement officer direct to make an arrangement. However, her mobile always goes direct to answer phone and she never calls back. Is this a ploy of theirs to avoid allowing an arrangement to be made so that they can in fact visit and place charges on the account. It's all so stressful, as I do not want to not pay, but I need to make an arrangement with them. Should I just send them a letter stating what I intend to pay or continue to keep trying to contact them by phone. Some of the things I have read about Ross and Roberts on this forum scares me, as I am a single Mum on my own and I know I would probably be intimidated and scared when they come to the house. Any help would be appreciated.
