  1. Hi everyone, i'm new here and i desperately need some help. I moved into the rented property I am currently living in on the 28th April 2010, when I moved in I paid a months rent in advance and a deposit of £725. I have still to this date not recieved a receipt or any piece of information signalling where it is being protected, I have a 5 month old daughter so to be honest until last week it didn't occur to me to check any of this as our landlord seemed very nice and reasonable. Last week I emailed my landlord asking him to resolve a few issues and asking for details of where the deposit is being protected so I can go and chase the details of it from them. I had no response. Three emails later, still no response. So I took it upon myself to check all 3 companies he can legally protect it with and they have all confirmed that they do not have my deposit. So 3 days ago I text my landlord asking him to reply to the email I had sent him and to alert him that I had sent an email in case it was a genuine mistake. I had to response to the text message either so yesterday I phoned him, 6 phone calls later, still no answer, I left an answering machine message explaining that I had checked with the schemes and that none of them claim to have it. I also mentioned that I would be forced to seek legal advice if he could not satisfy me that one of these companies were mistaken. That night I recieved an email saying the previous emails had entered his spam and that he would reply tomorrow night (so tonight) with answers to all of my queries. As of 9pm tonight I still had not recieved any form of contact so I sent him a text message to remind him of his promise. It is now 12:35am and I have not recieved any sort of contact from him. I need some advice please, I don't know what to do! I have looked on directgov and CAB and all say I can put in a claim but I'm not sure what the consequences to this could be? It also might be worth a mention that my contract states it is a AST, hat he will store the deposit in one of the 3 schemes within 14 days and that he won't enter the property without giving 24 hours written notice. Last week I was asleep on the sofa with my daughter to be woken to the noise of someone opening my front door, I rush out there on instinct to find my landlord standing in the hall, his excuse was that no one answered the door when he rang the bell. Surely he has broken our tenancy agreement numerous times by his actions? Like I said, I am in desperate need of help so any advice would be grately appreciated!!!
