  1. Hi Mikey, thanks so much for your reply. That's the most definitive answer I've had! And the most positive as well. Thanks for explaining it as it seems how you ask for things can make a difference to what you get! Many thanks again for responding to my query and for the help, Shell
  2. Hi, hope someone can help me out. I'm moving in with my partner next month but although we've been in contact with the CAB and Benefits Enquiry Helpline a couple of times, we've still had no definate answer on what will happen to our benefits when we live together. I'm on SDA/IS and lower rate care DLA. My partner is on disability related income support. Both of us have been ill a long time. We were initially told we'd just be moved onto IS but the CAB have told us that they weren't sure and that we might be moved onto ESA instead. It seems it'll just depend on the person we speak to on the day we inform the DWP! I read on the net about benefit linking rules but I don't know if this only applies when you stop claiming (because of training or work) and then reclaim? I can't find any information that applies to change of circumstance when you move in with someone. We were also told the illest one of us (great fun choosing that!) should submit the claim. This will be the first time either of us have lived independently and so we're both concerned that along with having to run a home, cook, clean and all those things that are harder with a disability, we'll also have to be going to medicals and assessments and interviews. I can't find any indication that we'd be supported in trying to be more independent,. Should I speak to my GP? Does anyone have any idea on just what the procedure is when people move in together, and what we can expect? Any advice would be gratefull received as it's all very worrying! Many thanks.
