i'm the tenant susyswan was talking about... our first contract was for 12 months, our current contract is for 6 months, although this came through 2 months late. it states in the contract that we have to give 2 months notice to end tenancy and would have to pay a check out fee of £35, all this was fine by us. nothing is stated in the contract that we would be liable for the rest of the rent. if the contract had come through when it should have (the end of may) then we would already be more than halfway through our tenancy by now anyway we couldnt give any further notice as the property we are moving to is council and we didnt know for certain that we would be allocated the property.
