  1. been there 15 yrs, my main point isnt really about the pay out, its more the legality of a department taking me on from a permament position from another dept when they dont employ people in my grade so from that point there was never any job to transfer me into. thanks for replying mate.
  2. I work as a civil servant. approx 1 year ago i was working for one agency and we all on our site transferred to jobcentreplus as part of all goverment depts having to help out jobcentreplus during the economic downturn, part of the agreement of that transfer was that jobcentreplus had to take all members of staff on current conditions, they couldnt pick and choose who they wanted to take and we had no choice in the matter, i was one of 8 Admin Assistants on a fulltime permament contract but the part of jobcentreplus we were transferred to did not employ admin assistants and had not done so for a number of years, since we joined we have been given higher duties pay and have worked at the grade above but with the cutbacks in the civil service i have heard that there is plans to make the 8 of us redundant and the reason it will be us is that there is no role for the grade we work in with our employer, i think that this will happen after october when the review on civil service redundancy pay is looked at and capped at 1yrs salary, if i was made redundant a year ago then i would have had a much better pay off. my question is is it legal to take someone on from a permament job knowing that they dont have a role for that employee in their substantive grade and then pay them off at lesser terms in the future? my feeling is that the 8 of us should have been promoted and then if redundancy was needed then a full skills selection excercise should be done for all staff in that grade. Any help anyone can give would be much appreciated. Thanks.
