  1. No half of it and that was leaving me with the bare minimum of money we can live on.
  2. Received notice of intent to remove goods for CT for my previous address for over 2 years. After reading threads on here I decided to phone the council to see if they would recall the debt and let me pay them directly but they said no and it was only in exceptional circumstances. Pointed out I'm heavily pregnant, have a toddler, a single parent and on benefits but still the woman wouldn't budge. So I asked her to check the address the reference number was for and told her I was just going to pay it online. So now that part is dealt with... what do I do with Bristow & Suitor? I so far have a first and second notice which were posted through the door in the same week when I wasn't home. I also have a letter that was mailed to me stating intent to remove goods unless I pay by the 31st of last month. Shall I just carry on ignoring them? I've not seen anyone, phoned anyone, spoken to anyone or signed anything. I've had no contact with them aside from the 3 letters.
  3. They told him that on Wednesday evening. Partner told them they can't repo if he's paid more than 1/3, the guy "that's right, but you haven't paid more than 1/3." He asked what the figures were, total amount, paid amount, rep told him, partner pointed out that that was over 1/3 only to be told, "no, it's not, it doesn't work like that". Thursday morning when he phoned he was adamant they were taking the car and to remove everything from it, partner again said he'd paid over 1/3 and again was told he was wrong. They said they were phoning back at 4 for payment otherwise the account will go to be reviewed for repo on the 31st, (nice to know they work Saturdays) and there was nothing they could do to stop that unless he made the £319 payment. They phoned again at 4 and partner just paid them thinking they'd take the car otherwise and he really doesn't want to loose the car. Now they are letting him continue with the contractual payments? How do they go from threatening repo to saying carry on as you were mate? The log book is in my name for insurance reasons, they will not be getting me to hand that over. Apparently they are sending our a statement with all the payments made. I'm not sure why they are sending this and I very much doubt they even will after reading threads on here.
  4. Credit agreement. http://i1000.photobucket.com/albums/af124/harleigh_2010/ca1.jpg http://i1000.photobucket.com/albums/af124/harleigh_2010/ca2.jpg http://i1000.photobucket.com/albums/af124/harleigh_2010/ca3.jpg http://i1000.photobucket.com/albums/af124/harleigh_2010/ca4.jpg Sorry for having to split it, don't have a scanner.
  5. Seemingly I'm more organised that I thought, it's in the folder with the V5, mots and service book. Just uploading. 2 ticks.
  6. Nope, we've not had a termination notice. We've had one letter re: a £10 for a phone call which we got them to cancel and the DN which I'm about to post. Because they were threatening repo unless the £320 was paid today, that's now been paid but there is still the outstanding amount. Apparently, we can keep to the contractual payments and nothing more will happen but frankly I don't believe them. This morning they phoned and told us to remove everything out the car because if we don't pay today they'll come and get it. They are claiming that 1/3 hasn't been paid off and they could just take the car if they wanted too. After the amount was paid this afternoon they are saying the account won't be reviewed on the 31st and everything is normal... There's still an outstanding of at least £600+ and I don't see how that suddenly isn't an issue, I don't for one minute believe they are just letting it all go on as normal. Does that make sense? The original agreement is filed away, I can dig it out if necessary. It was put away when we moved, my minds blanking on where though. We'd rather the car wasn't repossessed, we're in no position to buy another one. Looking at the DN we received we thought we had paid 1/3, they are saying different... I really don't trust them and I don't like this little game they seem to be playing with us. Looks like this weekend involves clearing the garage to fit in a car. http://i1000.photobucket.com/albums/af124/harleigh_2010/1.jpg http://i1000.photobucket.com/albums/af124/harleigh_2010/2.jpg http://i1000.photobucket.com/albums/af124/harleigh_2010/3.jpg http://i1000.photobucket.com/albums/af124/harleigh_2010/4.jpg This is everything we've ever had, bar the telephone charge letter, nothing else has ever been received.
  7. Will post the docs in a few minutes and update with our current situation shortly, just about to put the little 'un to bed. Thanks guys.
  8. Ahh, thank you. I'll read that tonight when my kids in bed. Also, thanks for getting the Wombles theme stuck in my head! lol
  9. Haha, yeah, that's a better way. Shall I just send them a postal order for £42.50 with a have a nice day letter? lol
  10. Okay, my plan is... Phone the council tomorrow, get the exact amount I owed, plus court fees, pay them online. Ignore Jacobs unless they come to the door, offer them £42.50 and nothing else, won't let them in, won't leave my windows open, stick my car in the garage out the way (which is maybe best with the current WF issue). Eat beans on toast for the week, buy some cloths and a bottle of disinfectant and cross my fingers.
  11. Lol. Best hope my toddlers tummy bug clears up then so I don't have to buy any more nappies this weekend and she can use her potty... I can cope with beans on toast for the week but between the prepay gas/electric and nappies I'm already looking at £50 outgoing before even buying food. I don't think we have much more than that left.
  12. I don't have a front garden and they back they can't see without climbing my gate and walking down the side of my house, which I assume they can't do legally?
  13. I truly hope so! I will phone the council tomorrow for the exact amount I owed and then pay them that. Then I'll just have to deal with Jacobs, I think they are making their figures up, so I'll be sure to find out exactly what they can charge me for and nothing else.
  14. "From April 1998 you should get a letter from the council telling you how much you owe and warning you that a bailiff will call if you do not pay the debt within 14 days. It will also tell you who to contact at the council if you have a query. Contact the council and try to make an arrangement to pay what you can afford immediately. If the council agrees then they can stop bailiffs being called out and save you extra fees." I never received that. Ugh, I hope the weather stays bad if they can just come in through a window I'm keeping mine firmly closed and locked!
  15. Then again I apologise, I didn't realise I'd said that myself. Tendinitis is what I've told it is, it hurts worse than when I broke it a few years ago and a sick 2st toddler who demands to be carried about is really not helping matters. With her dodgy stomach today and my strapped up wrist it's really not making for fun or easy nappy changes! 8-) Thank you for your help and also to Letsdothis, I'm starting to see this as not as big a deal as it was a few hours and can be easily sorted with the right advice I'm being given here.
  16. The original debt was £60, I assume I incurred £30 court costs so the rest is added on my Jacobs. Do I pay the council just the £60 or the court fees as well? I'm hoping I can pay it tomorrow but we have £1200 going out today and only slightly more than that coming in which means we're going to be very tight for money this week as it is.
  17. If they push to come in the house, what can I say to them that is an out and out no without them saying they will come back another time and adding more fees onto the amount? Is there some act or something that's specifically for that? Good to know, I doubt they'd want it anyway, it's all bashed up due to people being unable to use a roundabout. It's just an awful situation to be in, you hear all these scare tactics they use and I don't want to deal with that. We've never bought anything on finance, (till the car), only ever saved for things and paid outright, paid everything on time. This is all new territory for me and even though it might not seem like much to other people, I'm well out of my depth here. I can't imagine having to deal with this day in and out like I know some people do
  18. So I should ignore what the rude woman at the council tells me, pay the outstanding amount online, print off my emailed receipt for safe keeping and go about my business as usual? Is there anyway Jacobs can turn round and say I still have to pay them the £100 odd that they've added? Do I need to tell them it's been paid or just ignore them?
  19. It was because of you putting 'tendon problems' it came across as sarcastic with the punctuation, clearly I'm wrong and I apologise.
  20. Does this still count though with her saying it's been passed over to Jacobs and out of their hands?
  21. Someone told me today that I have to let them in otherwise they can't do a levy of goods and they can't set up a payment plan without that. Is that incorrect? I've never had to deal with them before and having heard all the things about once they've been in your property once they can just force entery, etc, etc I'm really concerned for the safety of my child and really don't want her unsettled with people banging on the door. The car is in my name but actually belongs to my partner who has a HP agreement with Welcome, (if anyone has any advice on our situation with them at the minute I have a thread in their section) so would they still be able to do anything with that? We've never had any of these issues before, everything has always been paid on time and never had any debt till this and the car issue with WF.
  22. They won't allow me to pay it now and when I asked about paying it online I was told I wasn't allowed to do that as it was an outstanding amount.
  23. I've just managed to speak to someone at the council who said on their system it's showing them having sent the details out to me and that the court date was the 11th of June which I never received notice of either. The woman was actually every rude and told me if I knew there was money owing to them I should of just paid it despite me trying to explain to her that I can't pay it if I don't have the details and refuse to take payments over the phone. She also said there is nothing else they can do and I have to pay the bailiff the money and if I have a complaint I can write to them.
  24. A couple of months ago I received a court notice from the Council for arrears of CT. Found that to be odd being on CTB but woman politely explained it was a short fall when I started claiming which was fair enough. Arranged to pay the £60 back in fortnight payments of £20 which she said would stop all court action. They wouldn't give me the bank details I needed over the phone but were sending them in the mail. A couple of weeks passed, no details, telephoned, they said they'd send them. That happened twice more and I still don't have the details and they won't supply them over the phone. Yesterday, while trying to deal my sick 2 year old, a man knocked at the door. Asked if I was "my name" so I said no as we've had canvasses round just lately promoting loft installation and stuff so I thought he was one of them and I wanted to get back to trying to clean up my toddler. He then asked that I give a letter to "my name" and presented me with an envelope. I opened it a couple of hours later to find it was a "Notice of attendance to seize goods" from Jacobs for the debt to the council for the CT and the amount was now £149.89 + costs! I spent 40mins holding in a que to speak to someone at the council about it and eventually gave up waiting thinking I'd phone today. This morning I went to the Drs which then resulted in a trip to the hospital, (tendon damage in my wrist, having to type one handed ), and being gone most of the day. I got home to yet another letter from Jacobs, this one stating it was a "Notice of further attendance to seize goods" and the amount now being £167.89 + costs! In the middle of the letter in bold it states "Final opportunity to pay the bailiff by instalments" and the guy has circled this in red pen and circled his name with an arrow coming from it and "4 hours" next to it. I found that pretty strange considering he didn't even state what time he left it, so 4 hours from when exactly? So where do I stand with this? I had no idea it had even gone to court as the last I heard they were sending the details out for the bank still and clearly the council are to incompetent to manage that. The letters both state I can make a payment arrangement but I have to have a bailiff call round to my home to complete paperwork which incurs a fee and I have to give some sort of payment there and then. Between having one wrist strapped, a toddler and issues with letting strange men in my house I don't like that idea at all. What actually can I do short of letting some random man into my house with myself and my child?
