  1. This is my first post here, so please be gentle. A couple of months ago I parked in a car park next to my local health centre and shops which is controlled by Excel Parking. There are no barriers, but they've got signs up everywhere about the charges. I had no change for the ticket machine and I was running late for a doctor's appointment so didn't have time to go into the shops and get some. I meant to get a ticket when I came back 20 mins later, but forgot. I usually pay the full £1 charge for 2 hours despite only being there for a few minutes, so didn't feel too guilty! My husband (he's the registered owner of the car) had a letter through a few weeks ago showing pics of my car going in and out with a £100 fine, which would be reduced to £60 if I paid within 14 days. I told him to ignore it on the advice given on here. We've just had another letter today with lots of red ink and threats of intent to issue court proceedings. My husband's getting twitchy about it. Am I right in thinking that we should just ignore all their letters and those from their solicitors and debt collectors? Please reassure me that we've just got some new pen pals and that we're not going to have a balliff on our doorstep! Many thanks!
