Hi Many thanks for getting back to me. I am not expirienced in "buyer rights" so i just expected to recieve warrant and go from there but thanks to your site i know i am covered. The dealer is 30 miles away from me, if i have to leave the car there am i entitled to a hire/courtesy car? Obviously i dont want to keep driving the car incase it causes damage is it unreasonable to ask them to pick the car up? I will keep you posted Thanks

Hi, I am new to this site so I apologise if this in the wrong place! On the 16th of June this year, I purchased a 1.9 astra cdti with 53,000 miles on the clock and full history. I paid £7000 for the car from a main dealer (not vauxhall). Within the first couple of weeks i noticed that the car would miss occasionally between a certain rev range. Now, a couple of weeks on, the problem is more noticeable and i have done some research as to possible causes. Apparently the problem is a common one "swirl flaps" which control air flow in the manifold. I have seen estimates to fix this as high as £1000 and regularly above £800. The car also seems to be very "tappy" on start up and for a couple of minutes after, i know its a diesel but im pretty sure this is not right as it has only developed over the last couple of weeks. The car was sold to me with 3 months warranty and I was told i would recieve the info on it within 28 days which has now passed and i have recieved nothing. Before i take the car back i just wanted to know where i stand. The biggest thing that is bothering me is if they fix a specific part what happens if that specific part failure has led to other problems elsewhere which are not yet apparent? Would i be able to go to my local vauxhall garage and get them to check over the car and then tell me what needs doing? Also will my warranty be extended or do i have to take the chance of other things going wrong after my remaining warranty has ended. I have no confidence in the car now and to be honest would love a refund - is there any chance that would happen? Thanks and sorry its a bit long!!
