  1. I use to see these comments made quite frequently over at the UK Business forum by disgruntled employers. The consensus amongst them was to simply avoid the JC website as, you quite rightly mentioned, to stop time-wasters who're only interested in padding out their jobsearch diary.
  2. Ever since this loophole was discovered, (the potential to harvest personal info), the DWP have only issued the usual soundbites. Yet after the DWP's statement on security, CH4 news were still able to create an alias and sign up as an employer. Anyway, in light of this, I'm thinking of redacting all key info on my CV. But then again, will probably get sanctioned on the basis of hindering the jobmatch process.
  3. That source sounds familiar. I might be mistaken, but this info was drafted quite some time ago. I'm sure that IDS was talking lately of making the site compulsory.
  4. My thoughts exactly. I don't want to give the DWP any opportunities to hang me despite my best endevours in finding work.
  5. Thanks. So the rumor about gaining access via an email alone has no legs?
  6. First of all, thanks for offering your help. When somebody is asked to create a UJ account, do we have to tick the box where JC+ staff can login to your account and track your usage? There's also rumors going around that JC staff don't need your permission (tick the box) as they can access the UJ account via a single email that we provide. Would you know anything about this?
  7. Agreed. I thought David Blunkett & James Purnell were sadists happy to stick in the boot, but dismal duncan is happy to dish out pain whilst living the life of riley.
  8. This is what I'm hearing around forums. The WP gravy train may be running outta steam, especially after the A4e debacle (and the rest of 'em).
  9. Same here, don't have to go into that place for 4 weeks! Btw, on a seperate note, I've noticed that there aren't any G4S security guards in the local JC+ office anymore. This has been like this for about 6 weeks now. Maybe they've had enough.
  10. As a side note; do claimants have to pay back hardship allowance under UC?
  11. I agree that the JC staff are under pressure (from politicos above), but don't the JC staff have the backing of the union? This is in stark contrast to the lack of support for the unemployed (excluding CAB, etc).
  12. I agree, recording every meeting is something I'm looking at. It's ridiculous that it may come to this, but it isn't the JC staff who have the threat of sanctions hanging over them.
  13. Just been served court papers (via Northampton's court bulk centre) for an outstanding debt to Anglian Water. AW have added £50 solicitor's/£15 court fee. The court fee I can understand, but the £50 sol fee is a bit much. Can I contest the sol fee?
  14. I'm in the process of making an application for (income based) ESA. I understand that there's an assessment phase for 3-months? I'm not looking for a definite answer, but roughly how long does it take for a new application to be processed, and if successful, the amount of time in receiving a payment?
  15. Ok, just an update. Despite the original application for hardship getting messed up (JC+ employee left me an important message on the phone that I failed to intercept), the decision maker decided to backdate the claim to the start of the sanction (3-weeks backdate without the 15-days waiting period:-)). I have to add that my case isn't usual as I have a medical condition (epilesy). Maybe the 15-days waiting period didn't apply to me due to being vulnerable, but I'm not sure as I'm only receiving the lower-rate hardship (£40 p/w) for normal people (usually £55 p/w for those deemed vulnerable by the decision maker). I'm hoping to appeal the decision & try to get the higher amount of hardship based upon the medical condition.
  16. Fortunately there's the (reduced rate) hardship allowance. I'll just have to be frugal.
  17. Thanks Flumps for the advice. I'll update this thread when the dust settles
  18. Just an update. Phoned the local JCP office and there was no sign of the claim for hardship (JSA10). Was referred to the (processing dept?) at Watford who gave the same answer. So now made an appointment, again, to make a claim for hardship. Just two questions: Can I get the claim backdated? When I make a formal complaint, should I write to the district manager?
  19. Sanctioned due to not applying for a job vacancy (as was the previous 3-month sanction). Flumps, I'd also like to echo Caledfwlch's question Re sanctions for the work programme; when did this start?
  20. I was told to turn up at JC+. An employee just asked the questions and typed the answers into the PC (kinda strange that no signature was requested). Sanction is second one, and is for 3-mths (to be appealed by letter, not GL24 as advised by JC staff). I'll pop down to the JC tomorrow and see what's going on! Thanks.
  21. I would've asked why are they trying to get me onto this work experience, despite doing 4-week mandatory work experience with the same outfit.
  22. Due to my JSA being sanctioned, I made an application (at the local JC+) for a hardship payment. Now two-weeks have passed & I haven't heard anything. I called the DWP today & the guy said that there isn't any sign of said application in the system! Do I have to make a fresh claim? Also, what's the best way to make a complaint?
  23. A concern is the sanctions imposed upon claimants. Please correct me if I'm wrong, but there was talk of paying hardship allowance as a loan, and the loan is only for a set time! If this is the case, how are those sanctioned meant to pay back the hardship allowance?
