  1. Hi, I've read one of the threads that a lady posted in September last year about her deceased mum's lost medical records. My case is very similar. I wonder if anyone out there could help please, i've pretty much tried every thing I could think of. In January this year I contacted my local surgery to have my childhood records returned to me. (Until the age of 19 I lived in the Czech Republic, and once my son was born I brought the records over here for the doctor to have my medical history - I was a very sick child suffering from the age of 5 to 12 from epilepsy.) Therefore the records are (were?) quite large in size. Reason for wanting them back was through family bereavement I found out that the doctor treating me was in fact my paternal grandfather. This puts great meaning to the records for me. After a few weeks of numerous phonecalls, it transpired that the records were either lost or shredded while the surgery moved premises. There is a small summary of my childhood medical history in the electronic records. I have not seen them, I've just been told by the surgery's Practice Manager. I have seeked legal advice, contacted both the Ombudsman and the Information Commisioner's Office, been in touch with the press, gone through all the proper complaints procedures that everyone asked for and required and no-one wants to know. More than half of your life (I am 34) in medical history is missing - tough, shame, never mind. This leaves me really angry. I'm not asking for much - I just want my records back.
