  1. Hi I'm hoping someone can help me on behalf of my son. He is 20 and has been an apprentice Service Administrator for a Honda dealer for the last year and half, maybe a bit more He was supposed to be allowed time during working hours to complete his assessments but the workload has always been too much so has not been given ANY time to complete his coursework, they have expected him to do it in his own time at home. He has now completed it and submitted it as once this is complete they have said they will take him on as a full time employee but seem to be dragging their heels. It was due to be done back in March. for now he is still on an apprentice wage of something like £9k pa, working 8-6 when his hours should be 9-5 once the apprenticeship is up, his wage will increase to around £22k pa The question I have is that as they are so busy, he never has time to take a lunch break. He had a quiet 5 minutes one day last week and snatched a moment to look at his phone, his manager told him to 'get off his phone and do some work for a change' I have been in there before to request a secret leave for him as his girlfriend had booked a surprise trip for him and was told by his manager that he is the hardest working in the team, he is polite and helpful to everyone and they would seriously be lost without him. So the comment about 'do some work for a change' is an absolute liberty Also, he informed me this morning that he was short paid in his wages by £30. He mentioned it to his manager and was told that 'it's such a small amount, payroll wont even bother about it so forget it'! He has said on a number of occasions that the company don't really care about it's employees. He is now expected to go in early and work late as one of the other sites have closed and all of their booked services etc have been given to the branch my son works at meaning they have even more to do with the same amount of staff. He is stressed beyond belief but frightened to say anything in case they cancel his apprenticeship and make him pay back the costs, and be out of a job is there anywhere he can go for advice, apart from internal HR who are just as useless?
  2. Ok, no problem. Everyone I've asked says she should have something displayed stating this. I just wanted to double check.
  3. Hi all I bought a dress for my sister from a small high street shop last Saturday. I asked to try it on as we are the same size and was told yes I can but if I didn't want it, to give it to her, not to put it back on the rail. I ended up buying it but when I gave it to my sister, she didn't like it so I took it back to the shop yesterday, with the receipt and asked for a refund The owner was very abrupt and said she doesn't do refunds. I asked her to repeat it as I was a bit shocked to be honest, again she said abruptly 'I don't do refunds' I asked her where her sign is stating that as it should be displayed somewhere in the shop and she told me she doesn't have to display anything. I asked what do I do with this dress then as it's not needed, she said 'take it home with you, I don't do refunds!' and proceeded to pick up her phone and start talking to someone while I was stood there with my mouth open Is she allowed to refuse a refund?
  4. I am sorry for wasting your time. I am amazed though that nowhere in their ts and cs does it state I can't cancel before hand and this is what he's going on. Thank you anyway
  5. I attached the terms and conditions in a post up there ^ but have attached again. This is what I have agreed to Terms and Conditions.pdf It says I understand I can amend my order upto 7 days and you do not accept cancellations as per your terms and conditions, but the terms and conditions don't state anything, only can't cancel after delivery or am I reading it wrong? I haven't yet as the manager said they will want paying in full if I cancel the agreement with the finance company I need to know where I stand before I contact them
  6. The delivery date is mid August, haven't been given an exact date yet. Yes I have put it in writing. I emailed a copy yesterday and I am taking a copy in to the store today. The store manager said they do not accept cancellations at all. I have an email from them giving the exact items and yes they are the exact on the website. I haven't ordered anything out of the ordinary, but he said they are being made to my order. This he calls 'custom made'
  7. He said because I chose a 2 seater and 2 love seats, these are made to measure, custom made for me? I chose the standard sizes, nothing out of the ordinary which could be sold again I would have thought that but apparently not. He says I signed to agree to not being able to cancel as per their terms and conditions, but I cant see anywhere where it says I cant cancel unless it's after I received them?
  8. Hi, I have just had a call with the branch manager who states that this is a custom made order (cos I chose a 2 seater and a 3 seater - not given specific measurements) He also said that if I ordered online I would have 14 days, not if I order in store I didn't get to record the call He said the contract I signed which I didn't get to read states they do not accept cancellations as per their terms and conditions - the only thing I can find in the terms and conditions is where it say I have no right to cancel once delivered Terms and Conditions.pdf he also said if I cancel I have to pay in full
  9. Thank you for all your help. Very much appreciated they are refusing to cancel
  10. Well their customer service was supposed to call me back before the store closed at 8pm and they haven't called I've emailed 2 different departments and have had responses saying they will get back to me in 3 working days and the other in 5 working days If I have sent it in within the 14 days does that still count as a cancellation in time? Even if I haven't had a response? I will still go into the store tomorrow with it in writing, just in case!
  11. Hi and thank you for your advice. No, nothing out of the ordinary and nothing made to measure. I have put something in writing which I will hand deliver to the store tomorrow and I have also emailed them stating I have been told that I cannot cancel. They are getting someone to call me back this evening apparently so I will check with them again. Thanks again. I was having a sweat then as I really have changed my mind about this particular suite. I could see myself stuck with it!
  12. Thank you so much I have just called the customer service line and was told that I can only 'change' the order within 7 days, I am not allowed to cancel. I did think this was a bit odd. So even with the loan agreement in place, I am entitled to cancel? I just want to make sure before I got back to them Would it also be advisable to go to the store tomorrow with it in writing do you think?
  13. Can anyone confirm if I am entitled to 14 days to change my mind once I have signed up for a sofa from SCS? Their terms and conditions state "You will not have the right to cancel the contract once delivered" I cannot find anything in there about cancelling before I ordered it not Sunday just gone but the one before on Finance (we have a loan agreement) and something has come up now where I am no longer in a position to receive it
  14. I've now used another company called ParcelCompare and they have done the exact same thing Have said they came twice at 7.30am and no one was in when I was How on earth can I get this mattress collected???? Amazon are saying they cant arrange collection, Silent Night say it is nothing to do with them
  15. I bought the mattress from Silent Night on Amazon, it was a memory foam mattress and it didn't expand as it should. I contacted Silent Night and was told I need to go through Amazon to arrange a return. They gave me the names of 2 collection companies as it is such a large item. I have since rebooked with Parcel2go at a further cost of £50 to me and have been waiting in all day for them to collect. I now need to go get my mothers medication so checked online to see when they were coming and the site tells me 1. it was refused at 7.37am this morning (no one came) and 2. when I try to rebook it it says it's been collected! WHat is it with these companies?
  16. Hi there I booked a collection of a faulty double bed memory foam mattress, I gave the sizes and weight of this and paid the amount required The courier arrived on the day but refused to take it saying it was 'too big' I told him I had put the right size and weight but he refused and drove off. I contacted Parcel2go who apologised and rebooked for the next day The next day, no courier arrived. This is a double mattress which is causing an obstruction in my hallway as I was told if I leave it outside I would not be covered on insurance and the courier may even refuse to collect it I am also having to take days off work unpaid for these bookings. It was re-booked for the 3rd time which was today and when I contact the help team on line earlier, I was told it would definitely be collected today. Yet again they didn't show I have now cancelled and will re-book with someone else but have been told I have to wait 5-7 days for my refund? Not only am I 3 days pay down, I have to wait a week for my money back? Surely that cant be right?
  17. Hi My husband of 18 years and I have decided to separate. I have a son of 20 who still lives with us who is not my husbands but he has brought him up as his own. He is on an apprenticeship so very minimal income. We inherited a large sum of money last year from his parents estate who sadly passed away, all of which we paid off our debts and invested into renovating our house of which was totally my design, interior and build. Now we are separating I have offered to buy him out of the house as I earn more than him and he is self employed and only has been for just over a year but he is saying that he wants an extra 20k on top of his share of the equity as it was his inheritance. Is this right? I told him he was being unreasonable as I have my son to think of too, his response was that that my son doesn't come into the equation and if he doesn't get the extra 20k from me, he will insist the house is sold and we split the profit. I don't want it to get nasty but my heart and soul went into my house when he had no input.
  18. Yes I am doing that My worry is though that I have recently obtained my full credit file and this doesn't appear on there at all surely if there was an outstanding debt from 2017 it would appear on there?
  19. I have recently been bombarded with correspondence, phone calls and texts from a company called Robinson Way chasing me for a debt that I dont believe I owe I had a Halifax One card years ago which I believe I paid off years ago (my memory is terrible so cant remember how it was paid off, probably by a balance transfer with another card) I called Robinson Way today as I had no idea what this debt was and was told the last payment I made was back in August 17 which has led me to ask why they have left it so long to chase me if I actually owe this money. I have been all through my other credit card statements to see if this was paid off but no longer have access to a few of them as we inherited a sum last year and paid off all our debts. Is there a way I can find out if this was in fact paid?
  20. Thank you all He is seeing a solicitor
  21. Hi all I wonder if there is someone who can help with some info for my brother? He has been with his partner for 10 years, they have 3 young children together. ages 3, 5 and 7. The relationship has fallen apart unfortunately. They live in a mortgage-free house belonging to my brother His partner has unfortunately turned nasty and is threatening all sorts, she said she is entitled to 25% of his earnings as spousal support as well as child maintenance. We do understand he will have to pay maintenance for his children and he has no problem with that but he is worried that she has been having an affair and is reluctant to continue letting her live in his house and she move her new partner in. He obviously doesn't want to leave his children with nowhere to live either so is absolutely torn as to what to do for the best. He doesn't want to finance her to take his children and make a new life with her new partner and he is in bits
  22. I did think it would be a long shot. Thank you for your advice
