SUCCESS!!!!!! Hi everyone, Thought you would like an update! After complaining to the ICO it appears it has worked! I checked my credit file today and Welcome Finance have updated it where as it was showing 6 6 6 6 6 6 6 6 6 for the last 6 years!! It is now showing 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 for the last 6 years and is green!!!! The debt is also statute barred. My credit score has gone from 320 to the dizzy heights of 750!!! Not amazing but a good start!! I should recieve a letter from the ICO soon to explain what was done. They wrote to me a few weeks ago to say that I had a case and they were dealing with it. My advice if anyone is having this problem then please complain to the ICO, it worked for me and this issue has been going on for 6 and half years. Thanks for all the advice guys I am one happy person today!!!! -

That seems to be typical of WF and totally unfair, it seems as if WF want to bring as much misery for as long as possible!! Yes definately complain as Brigidier says the more people complain about this the more chance we have of winning!!! Go for it and send to the Nottingham address to The Compliance Officer. Good luck, and let us know the outcome. -

Does someone physically update this markers on the CRA or do you think its done automatically? What do WF have to gain by having these old accounts open or do you think it's done out of spite? And also my debt has not been chased for 6+ years.. seems strange. -

Just been reading the technical guidance notes again and found this VERY interesting: 'Any default record should be accurate. We normally expect a lender to keep records that are necessary to show an agreement exists and to support filing a default. We would also expect a lender to be able to produce evidence to justify a default record they had placed on a credit reference file.' I'm now wondering if this is why the default never occured. I doubt WF have any of the original paper work to my agreement??? I CCA'd them a year ago and never got a reply.....mmm the plot thickens!! -

I sent it to thier HO in Nottingham and stated the Data protection guidleines and the Technical Guidance on defaults. As per a previous post which I basically copied thier letter. -

Oh ok I didn't realise that, I will give them a while longer. No didn't write Formal Complaint anywhere. Hopefully when and if they reply I can go from there and actually see what the score is. See as I havn't spoken to them for nearly 7 years i'm not too hopeful of them replying anyway tbh. But I live in hope!!! Thanks for the advice -

Hi, i've had the same problem with WF but they have been updating my credit report for 6+ years. I have complained to the Information Commissioners Office as the 'data protection technical guidance notes on filing of defaults with credit reference agencies' state that late payment markers should not be used in place of a default which is meant to be registered not more than 6 months after the late payment was made. WF are clearly breeching this. I have written to WF 3 times with no reply. Good luck you will need it with WF !!!

Hi, Thought I would give you an update... It has been 2 weeks and Welcome Finance have not replied, nothing at all. I sent the letter Special Next Day delivery and have tracked it so I know they definately recieved it. So I have gathered all the information together and sent a complaint to the ICO. Hopefully they can get Welcome to get this removed from my file and I can have a normal life again. Do you think they can make this happen? Fingers & toes crossed!!!! :| -

Hi, The lasy payment made on the account was november 2005, and no it was never defaulted, it appears on my credit report with experian as 6, 6, 6 literally for the last 6 years +. Yes very confusing have no idea why welcome never defaulted the account?? Any ideas would be muchly appreciated!! -

Hi, Thought I would let you know the latest. .... I recieved my Equifax report to day and there is no sign of welcome finance on there which is good news also not on Call credit so it appears the only one still reporting on is Experian??? Any ideas why this could be? TBH I havn't checked my experian for a few months now so will do that shortly possibly could have dropped off though think unlikely!! Also no CCJ at all on any of them from anyone! Thanks in advance :oops: -

I took out a HP agreement in july 2005 I wasn't happy with the car (all from Welcome Fianance) and refused to pay them and told them to collect the car. The car literally fell apart after 2 months! They collected the car and I moved heard nothing from them. Its still showing on my credit report that i Owe Them 6k plus they clearly never took any money off for taking the car back. I have sent them a CCA with no reply that was over a year ago. Last time I paid any money to them was November 2005 as it's on my bank statement. So i'm basically stuffed, I want to get a mortgage but they are still showing 6 tags on my credit report. for the past 6 YEARS!!!! This is with Experian, nothing on callcredit and i'm waiting for Equifax to send me thiers. I have got some info togther to send the the ICO hopefully they can help?? I'm getting desperate now feel like this is gonna go on forever!!! How did you get your resolved??? -

Hi, i'm having the same problem with this too. This has been happening to me for the last 6 1/2 years from welcome finance. I can't get any answers from anyone and have even got Experian to speak with Welcome Finance who are reporting this. Still no luck every month shows a big fat 6!!! -

Hi everybody, just need a few answers please. Took out a HP agreement with Welcome in July 2005, after major issues with the car welcome collected it lots of harrassment and phone calls ensued. I moved no more heard from them. I have checked with Experian recently and welcome are still updating my file with [6] for the last 36 months. Last payment to these people was december 2005. Balance is showing as £6630. This shows they never sold the car and deducted it from the balance! So anyway I sent a CCA to them last year to try and sort this mess out, I was ignored. I then called to enquire to the account, it's been passed to Lewis. Lewis have never contacted me (i'm on electoral roll so not hard to find) and neither have welcome. What do i do now??? I want to get a mortgage and this is having a massive effect on my credit score. Do I send a SAR or sit and wait to see if it drops off my report????? PLease help I don't know what else to do!! Thanks in advance

Hi All, I will give a breif outline of the story. Purchased a car through welcome finance in July 2005, car was awful lots & lots wrong with it. I complained to welcome nothing was done so I stopped payemts and asked them to collect the car. After lots of harrassment and calls and visits they eventually collected the car. I then moved and that was the last of it, never heard from them again. I've checked my credit rating recently and welcome are still updating my file with [6] every month which is saying that i'm 6 months late with payment. This goes on for the last 36 months. The last time I paid welcome finance was December 2005 as it's on my bank statement. I sent welcome a CCA 1 year ago and never recieved a reply. I also called them and they said that my account is now with Lewis DCA. Lewis have never attempted to contact me although i'm on the electoral roll so I would be easy to find. My question's are. What do I do now? Should I send a SAR? Or sit and wait till December to see if this goes away? I was under the impression that they can keep updating my credit file for ever!!!! I want o get a mortgage soon and with this on my report it seems unlikely I will get one. Please please help i'm desperate to get this sorted one way or another. Even if it means me arranging some kind of payment to them Thanks in advance Ps. This is the only negetive thing I have on my record. x
