  1. update further, I have now reported this to Rotherham Metropolitan Borough Council trading standards via their online eform. I have also posted a link in that form to this web site so they can follow what action I have taken. As my posts here are the most up to date I currently have. ;-) LJ
  2. ok todays update.... I have had no email, response or telephone call from car phone warehouse at all in regards to the faulty Nokia N97. The N97 was taken in for it's 3rd repair on 17/05/2010. Now it is standard procedure for Nokia Care Centre to send you a courtesy email to confirm that your phone is in for repair. This apparently is not done this time, since I have received no confirmation email that the phone is under repair. As such I took the liberty to phone the 0870 0870 168 telephone number provided to me by David (manager of CPW), however it appears this telephone number only gives you two options at the time of updating you. Option 1 and Option 2, both of which send you in a loop to tell you to take the phone in for repair to your local Car Phone Warehouse, neither of which provide you with contact details for following up your phone which is already in for repair. Now we can all draw our own conclusion's but this leads me to think that this makes it viable that you can not speak to any one direct about a faulty phone, as such reduces the consumer the ability to follow up any dis satisfaction with faults as you have no one to contact or speak to. Any waythe only way I could get through to customer service and check my phone was to phone 08000790004 (orange customer services for pay as you go), I advised them that the repair telephone number I was given didn't work, and they put me through to the right department. I eventually spoke to a member of th appropriate team who checked my detailss and stated the phone ahd goner off for repair and was due back in at Car Phone Warehouse monday (31/05/2010)-bank holiday. The adviser also stated that I would receive email confirmation that the Nokia N97 was back in and ready for pick up. When asked if the phone had been repaired or replaced, the adviser stated that the phone had been repaired according to the engineers notes. I advised this may not be the case, since last time they had replaced it for another faulty Nokia N97. I asked if I could see the engineers report! He (the adviser) stated he would request the engineers report and make it available to me, so I could see what work had been carried out upon the mobile this time. I also stated that how could the mobile phone be tested when to test GPS and navigation it needed maps installing on the phone, this had not been fully possible last time as the pc suite software last time would not connect for maps to be fully updated. What are your thoughts now on this matter? I await email now to see if my N97 is ready for pick up! I really do hope this goes some way this time to me getting a working N97 phone, fit for purpose and sold as described instead of not working as it should. If it does not work again this time I would be extremely dis satisfied yet again with the service, or lack of service via car phone warehouse and also Nokia. Ultimately the problem lies at Nokia releasing a mobile phone before it is fully tested and sold not fit for purpose. Also great responsibility lies with Car Phone warehouse who make it extremely difficult and near impossible to come to a happy and correct resolution on repeated faults. They seem to think that if they keep referring you back for further repairs you will get fed up and accept the repairs, currently breaking consumer law on more than one account. I do live in wonder that I can get a working phone to the same value as I should have had originally. Down and nearly trodden.. Lj
  3. i may be confused but what happens if you create a digital picture and they do copy and paste it to a document.... I have my own digital signature strip.... It is made up of three layers and mutli coloured... ** it is initial and sur name in black, suitable font size... ** it as anti tamper signature mark as a water mark added... ** and to make it more full proof it as a third picture of my dog added to the background. so to re iterate what is it to stop some one just copying the image and saving the image to a pc, then adding it at a later date to another document to make it look as if you approved something.. In effect you can try to protect your self as much as possible.... If anyone wants help creating a strip and as difficulty I have done it for family and could help just pm me... Alternative go for sign guard... it saves time and cost. regards...
  4. ********************************************** ********************************************** ok here is update after going back to Car Phone Warehouse today with my N97- this will be the short version.... (17/10/2010) It appears I could have made a mistake this is the third time I have been back with the phone and not the 4th according to both Dave (CPW salesmen) and also Ben( stand in branch manager). Ok here goes... I went back in today to PArkgate, Rotherham-CarPhone Warehouse, armed with printouts from this forum, nokia europe forum, consumer advice web site, all about symbian and also Which web site..... also copies of emails from the NCC repair time... I advised both the sales rep and the manager that all conversations were going to be recorded, which I did ;-) I spoke to Dave (CPW-sales rep) who advised me that the car phone warehouse did not have to repair the N97, it was a good will gesture that they repaired the phones on behalf of nokia, and if also since it had only been repaired twice before it would have to go away to be repaired again. I advised the CPW rep that CPW policy was breaking trading standards and asked him if he wanted to see the documents, I advised that current trading standards stated that if the phone was not fit for purpose (eg-due to faulty GPS for 3rd time, freezing, slider lock fault, and constantly dropping calls) and had gone away for repair once and returned faulty then I was within my right to ask for a replacement or alternative. I also advised that the standards also stated that the problem lied with CPW (the trader) and not the manufacturer), and not at Nokia, whom they tried to refer me to He declined seeing the standards stating that CPW were acting legally and that it had to be repaired 3 times by NCC, and after the third time if it was still faulty then CPW head office and NCC repair time would make a decision whether I could have the phone replace for alternative or not, or whether I would get a lower model. At that point I agreed I wasn't sure whether it ahd been back 3 or 4 times, since I had a faulty N95 anf that had been back a few times as well. As such I asked to speak to the manager, also advising that I was still recording all conversations. The CPW manager came out and basically reinforced what the rep had stated- CPW policy would not be breaking law and they would only normally refer me to NCC for repair. I advised I was being diadvantaged on petrol, time and inconvenience each time I had to take my phone for repair, and left with out a phone for approx 2 weeks each time. I once again stated I had been in contact with nokia forum and nokia europe regarding my legal stance and also consumer advice, and requested a alternative phone since I HAD LOST FAITH IN nokia as a brand. I also informed the manager that my previous phone had been swapped for another earlier N97 and the Ieme numbers ahd changed when it had been returned to me. The branch manager just asked me to await contact from the repair centre or contact customer services on tel- 0870 0870 167-- I asked if this was local call rate or free phone and he was unsure. After ringing a 0870 number previously and being charged nearly £8- I advised that I required a email or contact address and he advised me to call for further details, also stating that even if I contacted customer service or head office they would more than likely refer me to the repair time. I advised that this was not good service, and why should I the consumer have to pay to contact them, even more so when I am now out of work and on benefits, last thing I need is telephone costs on top of further petrol costs to sort a problem out created by nokia. In the end I came out with a loan phone free (motorolo W180), which is a basic phone I dont know how to use-without bluetooth or GPS, also being advised that if I wanted a blue tooth phone I would have to pay for it.... Therefore I advised them that car phone warehouse was not really meeting current trading standards and making things difficult for nokia N97 users, when all faults on my phone were recognised by nokia. I then passed my regards and advised I would be recording the outcome with the forums and also trading standards. So now I am without my N97 for a possible 2-3 weeks yet again while it goes off for repair by NCC. What are your thoughts. Lj *****:-?********************* **************************
  5. I have decided that after I recover from mumps(illness)this week I am going to try to get my N97 swapped or replaced via CPW or Orange, and my contract down graded or cancelled if not. Here is what I tried to post earlier ******************************************** ******************************************** N97 is the worst phone i ever had-been back for the camera lens scratch issue, screen freeze - not repsonsive, soft unlock failure, when charger disconnected it still shows charging, and now been back for no gps signal for 3 repairs. Still they dont swap or update it. I now have problem where after pcsuite updates it keeps disconnecting my phone. even as latest firmware too, soft and hard reset does not work also :?( ************************************** ************************************** Finally solved the software issue after spending countless hours online checking forums, regarding the pc disconnecting it on ovi and pc suite- had to perform a soft reset, then a hard reset, then had to remove battery, remove sim, remove the memory card. Reinsert sim, reinsert battery, switch phone on, wait for boot up. Try pc suite and check contacts, pics and messages etc. Disconnect pc suite then instal memory card. Phone's been ok for a few hours though I still have little or no signal on phone reception (drops calls constantly), even though signal checker shows excellent for my postcode , also have no satellites being picked up at home or out and about. Infact it showed me in Rotherham the other day when I was still in Manchester for two days, so how bad is that.. Once this is dealt with I really cant see me going back to Nokia ever again. The phone was bought through car phone warehouse at Parkgate Rotherham, and is on contract with Orange, 24months, of which I am on month 11 this week. You could say I had the phone 9-10months really as Nokia CC have had it for at least 5-6weeks, I have my serial numbers recorded and they have replaced it twice. On one occasion having the cheek to replace it with a older phone with more problems than my original one. Not sure, though think its been in for repair 3-4 times, but kinda losing track since my old N95 went in for repair a few times too.. Both on the nokia forums and allabout symbian have acknowledged the hardware issue on the gps so why don't they offer me an alternative hand set So just shows that its nokia letting things slip..... I still think the N95 beats the N97 for reliability too. I would love to stay with Orange also having my internet with them, but am losing the will with them ... You would have thought it was in their interest to keep customers happy and follow the law Would like your help and guidance while I try to take it back (hopefully on Monday, 10th May,2010). Will keep you informed. LJ ************************************************** ************************************************** ok guys, D-Day is here tomorrow..... I am going to take the N97 phone back tomorrow (16/05/2010), not sure whether it will be Car Phone Warehouse, Parkgate, Rotherham (purchased here), or Meadowhall car phone warehouse (nokia repair service centre) who have supposed to have repaired it twice. Though it still drops calls constantly, and the GPS as not worked (without blue tooth gps), since I took receipt of my replaced phone. Begs reason really why they replaced it, since the last GPS worked, though was intermittent, since it came back the second time it's never worked... Will not update via Ovi Store, and constantly keeps downloading software updates it as already updated... arghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh Oh tell a lie OVI maps did work, it worked when I coupled up my blue tooth gps lol, which I used as a back up to my N95 gps which also did not work correctly.. infact it worked that good I was amazed why NOKIA don't give blue tooth gps receivers free to all N97 users (as a work around fix)... lol I am going to the store tomorrow armed with the consumer advice prints and also The Which mobile phone consumer advice guide... Lets see what happens, can any one recommend a phone which might be of equal comparison as a swap... etc... Or further help or guidance... All I really want is a working phone fit for its purpose, with possible high spec camera, working gps, working software and hardware..... and possible good calendar and contact system.... regards LJ
