Thanks for the last update Crem - hope you got the new car - after a busy week dealing with DVLA and my car dealer, it now seems that DVLA have now signed off my Cherished Plate paperwork, this has been returned to the dealer - so all being well, I will be collecting my new car sometime over the next few days! Thanks again for your help, have fun in your new car! Cheers

Hi there, thanks for the reply to my earlier post. Am very interested to read that you are expecting things to be fully organised for you by this weekend - I hope everything goes to plan for you, better than it has done with me anyway! Reading your message has given me a bit of hope - the process took around six working days for you, so going off that, things may be sorted for me by the end of next week - we'll see how it goes, here's hoping! Thanks for your help! Regards

Hi there This has probably been discussed on this forum before, however I wonder if anyone else has any experience of a long wait, when waiting for DVLA to transfer a Cherished Plate onto a new car you have purchased. My situation is this - at the weekend I purchased a new car from a local garage, and traded my existing car in. The garage told me they would take care of things as regards transferring my Cherished Plate onto the new car. I handed over all the necessary paperwork to the garage, and this has been forwarded to DVLA. From my discussions with DVLA this morning (Had a nightmare trying to get through to someone, DVLA certainly don't like speaking to people I think!), I believe that this simple task can take up to "Three Weeks" - which is absolutely unacceptable in this day and age. The thing that gets me really angry is that the car dealership have said that my new car is sitting ready for me, we're just waiting for DVLA to get their act together and get my Cherished Plate transferred to the new car! Three Weeks is NOT acceptable, but it seems there isn't a thing I can do about it now, apart from wait. I would be interested to know if anyone else has experienced a similar problem to this. Thanks for reading this. Regards
