  1. Please pardon my ignorance but may I ask a couple of questions of you. You referred PM in your first reply, what does this mean? If I paste my letter into this 'thread' is it available for all to see? Thanks for your time & trouble.
  2. Thanks for your advise it is much appreciated, I will certainly draft the letter you suggest, but being new to this forum stuff I don't know how to send you a link. Thanks again, I'll get back to you shortly
  3. I got a cold call from Swinton 3 weeks before my car insurance was due, I explained to them that I already had a good quote from insurance comparison sites but they still wanted to quote. After taking all my details they gave me a cheaper quote which I readily accepted, however when the details came thru the post the registration & car make were wrong. I immediately contacted them & they said that for my car it would be another £150, to which I replied no way I will use the comparison sites as originally planned. their reply to that was you owe us a £60 cancellation fee which I subsequently refused to pay. Since then I have numerous intimidating letters & been threatened with debt collectors despite having phoned them & sent them written complaints. After receiving some legal advice I paid the amount under duress & now intend to either take the matter to the FS onbudsman or pursue it myself thru the small claims court. (Any advise on this would be great) I feel it is an important issue since there appears to be a number of people at Swinton Insurance involved in this which suggests to me that there is a general culture of dishonesty within the company.
