  1. In Dec 2008 I made a payment by debit card which was made under duress. Being under duress, I used an old account which had been dormant and empty for a year. Lucky for me, given the support I received from the bank in question... I notified the bank (Barclays) and VISA by telephone immediately, and as soon as Monday came around I went to my local branches and notified them in person. I came away with a signed and stamped note stating that despite my protests, the bank would still honour the payment since I entered my PIN. In my opinion, since the payment had not been made at the time I contacted them, it could have been stopped or at least suspended pending investigation. I also involved the Police but it was not a high priority for them. Fast forward over a year, Barclays have mostly ignored my letters (around 12 so far, to various deparments, response if any is always "You entered your PIN so are liable"). My requests for copies of any agreements where I allowed Chip & Pin to override my explicit instructions have been completely ignored but I did not have the benefit of the templates on this site at that time. I have spoken to Barclays debt collection department a couple of times and apparently they have dismissed my dispute as "No fraud detected" despite the fact that I never mentioned fraud in any of my letters. They have never put this rejection into writing. The last debt collector I spoke to completely agreed with my view that they were acting nonsensically, and promised to email the person who made the decision personally but nothing came of it. I have now been receiving calls from Credit Solutions for a couple of weeks, never answered them and since I have Caller ID, can easily avoid doing so. Today I have received my first written contact from Power 2 Contact, threatening to visit me and "collect the debt". I'm getting a bit annoyed so would like to know what steps I can take if any? Even if I did acknowledge the alleged debt, I am in no position to produce that kind of money even by installments (currently well into the red). I don't have access to the internet all the time so although any replies will be welcomed, I may be slow to respond. Many thanks
