As I did not receive a renewal notice from DVLA, my car was untaxed for a few days in January until I realised the mistake. I received a letter 2 weeks ago asking me to pay a fine of £52.00, which I have paid. This morning I received a letter asking for another £52.00, as the car was reported as being untaxed during the same period but on another day. I telephoned the issuing office who said that even if the car was reported twice on the same date, I would have to pay the fine twice. Is this correct or do I have grounds for appealing for having to pay a fine for the same offence twice?
