  1. Guys its just the stress factor that makes me want to leave, and knowing i,ll prob get a written warning on my file for 12months, and not allowed any further mistakes or else !!!! which wont help if i apply for a job somewhere else.
  2. Thanks emmzzi, that very comforting, that is my problem i fret far too much!! My husband says that,he also says no job is worth all this worry for and making me ill. Trouble is I acutually luv the job and meeting the customers. I just feel there is no other way out but to leave which is sad. I do not want to feel like im under threat every time i now go into work, that makes me more nervous and ive lost all my confidence. At the end of the day i am only human not a robot and after taking 12000 pounds in 5 hours they expect no errors AT ALL or else !!! I have apologised till im blue in the face been openly upset and my boss nows how bad this has effected me. laingy
  3. Hi all, I have worked in foreign currency for the past 12months,never had a day off sick and only had my annual review last week which turned out to be excellent Two days later when i was cashing up half an hour before my shift ended i balanced to the penny.I then served a customer for £1400 in us dollars, tried to balance up again and found I was £100 short Panicking i put the clock as thou i was closed and then another customer wanted 100 euro,s worth £85 so i served him as i didnt want a complaint about closing 5 mins early as this was 5 to 8 all the time i was beside myself with worry and because of that i forgot to check the £20 notes the last customer had given me under the uv lamp or use the marker pen checking it not be a fake the next morning my boss rang me to tell me that 1 of the £20 notes was actually a fake. I have today been told that i am now facing a disiplinary hearing as i never followed company procedures on checking the notes.(which when they check the cctv they can see me clearly always checking the notes but on this occasion under the stress i never,i had a investigating meeting today to give a statement. As i have been of for 6days on holiday since this happened i have had the worst week of my life worrying about this im 52 and worked all my life and have never ever had anything like this happen to me before. Our regional manager will be coming down this week to check the cctv footage to confirm where i lost the money and when i took the fake £20. I am going to now look for a less stressful job but am worried incase they divulge this in a reference. Help and advice needed please guys. laingy
  4. yea 24 altogether but some he had to hang up as he had a customer and then rang me back,so thats why it seems alot more than it would of been and yes we both can remember the majority of them.there was only actually 3 calls over 15mins altogether.as we dont bother with each other outside work he is 28 and im 52 married woman for 35yrs we have nothing else in common apart from work.
  5. the thing is we work in a travel money bureau 1 at a time so when 1 shift finishes the other takes over like 2day im in a 2.30 and he goes then so we get no time(paid) to handover properly.so i always tell him to ring me if any problems etc.also these are not personel calls they are alwaays to do with work issues.they have shown us a copy of the bill as proof.our boss has told us never contact her via phone or email unless an emergency when she is off and thats why he rings me as we dont have any other contact as such will other bureaus.i was called in 1st to ask why he rings and was told thats fine as long as he confirms this which he did.so i dont understand why they are making such a big issue out of it.
  6. but surely this would maybe only constitute a warning and now that it has been made clear he would not do it anywhere near as much.we think the problem is more to do with a bit of payback from our boss as he filed a complaint against last november which is on her file and she was disaplined for it.
  7. hi,my work collegue is getting disaplinary action against him,for ringing me fromthe work phone.we donot socialise out of the work place and he only ever rings me to do with work issues, training and any problems related to work. we both no the rule for using the phone in the work place but when its to do with work sureley this seems unfair when he has only tried to improve himself or to avoid doing the wrong thing.he has offered to pay for the calls which they have refused and they see it as theft from the company.were talking about 4hrs worth of calls over a month.we are are both new to the job and have constant on going training that needs to be done whilst in work as well as doing are job. any advice please. laingy
  8. hi all, was told at 8.45am that manager wanted to speak to me in office, but she made me wait unit 1.45 just before my shift finished. however i explained my reasons etc for acting as i did.was asked a few questions.had to sign the statement.basically was told that they accept my reasons and me being niave(if you like) to company policy and if that situ arose again would i handle it differently. well of course i would,i said. however i also told them that i resign from h&s rep as i would not put my own job in jeopardy again.as she told me if they had closed us down that would of been the case. anyway im safe, and apparantly no more will become of this!!!! thanks all again for help & support. laingy

  10. lets hope that they see it that way!!!!! i think that the way they are looking at it is;you have not acted in the companies best interest and you could have got us closed down!!!! we,ll see monday. thanks for your interest.
  11. hi, i am not senior person on site. my catering manager is on holiday for a few days. my acting assistant manager was there, she new i was ringing as it was here that nearly slipped the day before. I dont recall anyone telling me who to raise issues with has i have never had to before. After speaking on the phone today to new area manager,he assured me we can go to him as well, which i probably should of done. but the whole point is he thought it was sorted out he said and was not aware it had not been. i also could of gone to the store manager but she also kept saying,"its in hand",were doing all wecan. Thats why i thought well no-one seems to be getting very far.i,ll ring hso. OR WOULD THEY HAVE WAITED FOR AN ACCIDENT TO HAPPEN and then come to me and say "you could see how bad things were, why didnt you pursue this". Thats what i didnt want to happen,so i felt i covered my back by ringing them. however will i now pay the price for caring for my fellow workers.!!!!!!!
  12. hi all, i have worked for a catering franchise within a dept store for 16yrs. 10 days ago our boiler broke.we have been carrying large amounts of boiling water in buckets all around the kitchen as the boiler feeds the dishwasher so that dont work. Apart from the girls having a bad back leaning over sinks all day, there,s no hand washing facilities either. As health & safety rep they have been coming to me complaining. As the store is responsible for the boiler, they have been getting quotes for a new one. However they have been looking for a cheaper price of course. Friday I went into work and one of the girls told me she had twice nearly slipped carrying the buckets of hot water. I had a meeting with the area Health&safety officer a couple of years ago when i was elected. She told me that at anytime if I wanted any advice or info to give her a call. So after the girls telling me she nearly fell,we all felt after 10days of working in these conditions there must be something we can do. Having never been told of company policies or procedures or who to go to to try and push this along,I decided to ring for advice to the HSO. Within an hour they were in the building. My intensions were never done maliciously,I was only covering my back as H&S rep and to ensure my working collegues are not at risk . My bosses are not happy with me.I rang area manager this morning to explain and apologise. He was very nice and appreciated the call.BUT WILL SPEAK TO ME MONDAY. I am worried that i may loose my job for maybe not acting in the companies best interest. ALTHOUGH I WAS ACTING AS I THOUGHT IN MY WORKERS BEST INTEREST. Apparantly a new boiler is coming Monday now! ANy thoughts please guys?
  13. elpulpo does that not mean though once we have signed that we agree case closed in effect. they are loooking into a reference, they said.
  14. you could be right. We all just feel really wreary of it all now. could we stand going through another 3-6months of this and to be told we got 50-50 chance. the word "police" rageing its ugly head is so intimidating. going to have to sleep on this i think. think my son, just now wants to draw a line under it and try and get on with his life. forgot to say, thay have agreed to say the reason of them parting company they are prepared to change to "mutual agreement". now cos the felt a bit sorry for him,are they doing that as a favour to maybe help him career wise or cos they no we got a case.? its just mind games. head wrecking !
