  1. Well the whole 2 year contract is baloney. The T&C's state 2 years, but on my enrollment form I'm supported for 3 years. Barclays really are clutching at straws now. It would have been cheaper for them to not try and screw us all over.
  2. Strange one, I haven't received the email yet, and theres nothing in my junkbox either. Thanks
  3. Yesterday I finally received a letter from the Financial Ombudsman. They said they are investigating my complaint and will be in contact with Barclays Partner Finance. They also said in the letter that they may take longer than usual because they have received an "usually large" number of complaints. Well done guys! Another nail in the coffin for BPF!
  4. My second letter was delivered to BPF, got the electronic proof of delivery. Lets see if they ignore this letter. Nothing special in it, just refusing Computeach and complaining about getting the contract cancelled and interest free period extended as I'm not receiving any service that I should be getting. Also complaining that they did not respond or even acknowledge my first letter to them. That also had electronic proof of delivery!
  5. Try not to worry guys, looking at the evidence from Martin and TomBL, to me its looking more and more like if this goes to court, Barclays wont stand a chance.
  6. This makes me think that BPF are in bed with Computeach, with BPF getting the course cheaper than Advent were charging, therefore making more profit from current agreements with students. But if I have to I will pay off the £5,450 before BPF try to whack that silly interest rate on. Then Sue them for the sum of the loan I have to take out (providing this mess that BPF put us in doesn't get sorted before May)
  7. I got the "you're Computeach's problem now" letter today. I am sick of this. Over 2 months without a service now. It is not acceptable. I wonder if we would be able to sue BPF for undue stress this situation has put us under. I don't want to have to get out a loan to pay the £5,450 for BPF (so those dirty bankers dont get £12k off me!) to decide a month later that they are in the wrong and refund us all. My interest free period ends in May. I refuse to sign up to Computeach especially when they currently have students suing them for a lack of service!!! Also BPF ignoring my letters would go down well in court! Will be sending them another letter tomorrow.
  8. I would think that Section 3 of Our Rights stops them from doing this, because it does state, If the provider goes out of business we may be able to sue them (BPF).
  9. The salesman told me I could do it in my own time, no deadlines to pass etc... yet, the agreement between me and Advent only runs for 3 years. Mis-selling indeed. I was also told by the salesman that they interview people to see if they "qualified" and were "the right people" to be an Advent student as they wouldn't let any old person on the course, they wanted people with good English and wouldn't let any person who just came off a boat into the country on the course. Interesting. Maybe the alarm bells should have been going when I mentioned I overclocked and watercooled my computer, the salesman looked like I was talking a different language to him.
  10. I think maybe we can push for either we were mis-sold the course, or pushing on with the fact that BPF were only there to finance that specific course with Advent, and not any course BPF think you should be on.
  11. Well, the period for BPF to respond to my letter has been and gone. Still no acknowledgment of the letter I sent to them. The next step for me is to copy the FSA and Financial Ombudsman into the letter and sent copies of my previous letter to all 3 parties. Will send that off tomorrow!
  12. All I have had in response to my letter (17th Feb), Barclays have replied with the same generic letter twice, but one laid out slightly differently to the other. In neither of their generic letters did they even acknowledge what I had written to them. They have until next Tuesday to come up with a proper response, or I will send a complaint to them and the FO. I signed a contact with Advent, BPF have nothing to do with my training bar financing the loan. I will keep you all informed if I get a proper response or not!
  13. The way I see it Advent still broke the contract regardless if they now have a buyer or not. They can't seriously expect us to carry on now after 5 weeks with no help or support.
  14. Sure. That was the first letter I sent them, if I get a letter from them with an unsatisfacotry response, I will threaten them with court action.
  15. Letter has arrived at BPF this morning. Will be interesting to see what they reply with.

  17. Hi Everyone, I too was a student of Advent until that blunt email arrived in my inbox. At this point in time I am unsure what to, as I have a BPF loan but am still in the interest free period (which expires in May). Reading the contract, there seems to be a contradiction. It states : "Non-cancellable agreement - you have no right to cancel the agreement under the Consumer Credit Act 1974 ...." But also this: "The consumer Credit Act 1974 lays down certain requirements for your protection which should have been complied with when this agreement was made. If they were not, we cannot enforce this agreement without getting a court order." So I am confused, can I cancel the agreement envoking this Act or not? Thanks Robert London
