  1. This implies that you were sold a cover for "Any event". If they do not look after you in "any event" report them to trading standards for misselling and misleading you. CPUT 2008 outlaws this and you must report it. Trading standards phone number is 08454 040506
  2. Hi ste and welcome to CAG. "What ever happens" implies that you will be looked after.......what ever happens. If you are not looked after and they use some devious small print to wriggle out of looking after you, you need to complain to Trading Standards. The Consumer Protection from Unfair Trading Regulations 2008 CPUT 2008 is quite clear about misleading customers and their [EDIT] must be reported. They make money by [EDIT] people off with this so called "service" so if you are not given what you expected, ring 08454 040506
  3. use soga. It trumps all the worthless add on service that currys sells. As for the misselling, that is part and parcel of dealing with currys and they will say its your word against theirs and i would bet you'll get no joy by persuing that. The moral of the story is next time you buy an electronic product, use a reputable seller that looks after its customers ie take note of how many negative reviews and complaints it gets. Currys get loads!
  4. Hi Tango, When I started invoicing lloyds there was no precedent as far as I was aware. I Invoiced them becasue what they had done to me was wrong and they wouldn't correct there data. I am sure the reason they paid out is because they knew I would follow through on my threat to take them to court and they would lose. You have nothing to lose by sending them an email every day with a charge.
  5. I went into the branch each week and asked them to fax 2 invoices to their complaints department and got a receipt for the fax. I billed them £20 per day for both me and my wife so in total our credit files were incorrectly and negatively marked for 181 days. Each invoice ended with "Should you fail to pay this outstanding balance within 7 days, I reserve the right to initiate a claim for any amount outstanding plus interest and costs without further notice to you." In July, when the files were corrected, their complaints department sent an apology with a cheque for £600 as a settlement. We cashed the cheque and didn't write back. It has crossed my mind to start a claim for the outstanding amount. Also, the reason we invoiced for each of us was because we understood there is a limit for small claims of 5K.
  6. The problem U have is rentsmart own the equipment and the pc-world rep has earned a bucket load of commission twice that's why they done it. rentsmart have their hands tied because they've bought a bad deal and pc world will have to pay them back to undo it so all in all a recipe for you getting done over.
  7. Update on this: After going into the branch every week until the end of July giving them a bill for the damage caused by defaulting my credit file, they finally corrected it. The bill came to £3620. They paid £600. Just keep complaining and don't let things drop:-)
  8. Hi there, Long time no post. I have a Lloyds current account which I don't use - it has 72 pence in it. I have a loan with them that is completely 100% paid up to date and in order which will be paid off fully in 4 months - never missed a payment. Last summer, Lloyds asked me to pay off the current account £300 overdraft ( I think because they could see I don't put money into the account - I pay my loan by transfer from natwest) while I was abroad for 2 months. When I came home, there were nasty letters from scm solicitors etc and messages on my answerphone. I paid them the overdraft on the phone by card. Anyway, in October last year, for the first time I was turned down for a credit application. I looked at my experian credit report, which showed that I had a lloyds account that was out of order and that I owed them money. I rang lloyds, they said the system takes a while to update and apologised for the delay in correcting the information and said they would chase it up. Nothing happened. I have complained and complained. Today, My credit report shows my account is in order, but that I owe them £105. They have written saying it is a mistake....they will correct it as soon as possible....I can go to the ombudsman if I am not happy with the action they have taken. Their incorrect information on my credit file is having an impact on my creditworthiness. What can I do?
  9. I have today recieved a demand for immediate payment from their recoveries department. !!!
  10. This is the latest email to come which I am happy to say goes some way towards rectifying the problem:-): Martin, I would like to point out that there are many online discussions about this practise going back a long long time. To get this far I have had to by pass their totally derisory customer service department (which has sent a total of 3 threats of debt collectors now) by buying information from the company register to get the name of the Directors and then only through persistence have I been able to get this email address. Rather than just accepting that I didn't want their books, I have had to complain to Trading Standards, the OFT, the ICO, post on here and throw everything out of the pram to get this far and only then have they recognised that they might have to do something. The default setting, as Natalie hinted earlier, is for their employees to fob you off. At least there is now an online record of an alternative way to dealing with this company other than being frustrated by their customer service department, threatened by their debt collectors and then just submitting to their demands for money.
  11. This email has come today: They have the cheek to ask me not to print an email unless necessary yet they are throwing books away left right and centre. I wonder if he is asking me to just put the books in the bin?! Is he suggesting that whenever someone recieves unwanted books they just bin them?

  15. I have just spoken to the OFT again to check the Credit License register and they don't have one.
  16. I don't know. I have no problem with it if it gives an alternative to BCA - but I think the site rules may have somthing to say.
