  1. Jo - DON'T give up!! It really does work: http://www.consumeractiongroup.co.uk/forum/scotland/11622-give_me_it_back-abbey-yay.html
  2. I'll be really interested to see what happens when you sue them for non compliance of DPA - specially since the IC announcement. How do you intend giving it a monetary amount?
  3. Isn't it! To any of you out there reading my thread who have just started the process - don't be afraid. If you follow the procedure and do not deviate, you WILL get all your money back - and it's a good feeling!
  4. I reported this lot to OFCOM, Office of Fair Trading, the CSA and Trading Standards and also told them that they MUST stop calling me. Been quiet.. HOWEVER! Tonight - I got ANOTHER recorded message asking for no-one specifically by name or giving a reference number (sound familiar!) from ANOTHER bunch - CSL (Credit Solutions Ltd). I called and was told EXACTLY THE SAME THING!! We do not know who you are. We don't have your name or address listed.... there's nothing we can do! WHY is this happening and HOW can I stop it!? It's really getting to me! I DON'T owe any money! Why have these people got my (ex directory!) phone number? This can't go on indefinitely - I will have been contacted by every debt collection agency in the UK by the end of this!! I am very concerned that someone is giving my phone number out fraudulently. I recently found out that Orange had my name listed with a linked address that I had nothing to do with (don't even know where it is!) I wrote to them and they told me "sorry - this was due to a fraudulent application". I have asked for more details, but this is really starting to worry me... Any advice? Thanks everyone!
  5. Thanks Karnevil!!! :) Can you please change my thread to read "WON"!! YAY!?
  6. WELL DONE!!! Tis a busy day at Abbey, as they just told me that I was receiving the full amount also (and, in fact have already paid it in!) It's all such a farce as it is perfectly clear that Abbey ARE Ashursts (see my comments at http://www.consumeractiongroup.co.uk/forum/abbey-bank/35866-abbey-changing-solicitors-6.html) Great news NN!!!! :)
  7. Thanks guys!! (Donation already made!) Yes - I DO think it will be easier now - NNelson also got told today (out of the blue) that full payment was being made! It won't be long for the rest of you now. Thank you ALL so much for your unbelievable support and help! You are all FANTASTIC people!
  8. I just called the bank - the money is IN!!
  9. Yeah - quickly bombard her now - she's in an 'Abbey' mood!
  10. LOOK WHAT I JUST GOT from Lauren (ABBEY!): "Abbey is representing itself and I am working at Abbey. Apologies for any confusion on DLA's part. I would also like to take this opportunity to confirm that a payment of £625.66 has now been made into your account in full and final settlement of your claim. We will write to you and to the court to confirm that the claim is settled. I would be grateful if you would also write to the court to withdraw the claim once you have received the money in your account."
  11. OH MY GOD!!!! Just got this from my new friend, Lauren (ABBEY!): " Abbey is representing itself and I am working at Abbey. Apologies for any confusion on DLA's part. I would also like to take this opportunity to confirm that a payment of £625.66 has now been made into your account in full and final settlement of your claim. We will write to you and to the court to confirm that the claim is settled. I would be grateful if you would also write to the court to withdraw the claim once you have received the money in your account. "
  12. I think they are going to HAVE to admit soon that Ashursts ARE Abbey...!
  13. Poor woman doesn't even know who she works for!! I have just emailed her again.
  14. i received an email from DLA telling me that Ashursts ARE handling Abbey's cases and that I shouold contact... Lauren Bernard! The thing is, Lauren emailed me (FROM AN ABBEY ADDRESS) saying: "I understand that you have contacted Ashurst in relation to your claim against Abbey. Abbey is now representing itself in this claim and all enquiries should be directed to: Abbey National PLC Abbey National House 2 Triton Square Regent's Place London NW1 3AN Tel: 020 7756 4398 or 020 7756 4306" I asked DLA who lauren works for and they said Ashursts! I asked if Ashursts WERE Abbey, and they said: "Ashurst is a firm of solicitors in London to whom DLA Piper have passed a number of cases, yours being one. I am not aware of their being any relationship between Abbey and Ashurst other than Ashurst will now be representing Abbey in this matter. Please contact Ashurst Solicitors directly should you require any further information." I'm about to email Lauren again... Wonder if she knows who she is today..
  15. Now heard from DLA : "Ashurst is a firm of solicitors in London to whom DLA Piper have passed a number of cases, yours being one. I am not aware of their being any relationship between Abbey and Ashurst other than Ashurst will now be representing Abbey in this matter. " Hmmmm email addresses for Lauren Bernard (Abbey/Ashurst?) is: [email protected]
  16. tee hee... just heard back: "Both Lauren Bernard and Ben Tidsworth are solicitors at Ashurst Solicitors." I have asked outright - Is Ashurst Abbey's in house team? No response yet.... Oh dear, maybe DLA have pressed the send button a little in haste...
  17. It has just got interesting... The address I was given for Ashursts is: Broadwalk House, 5 Appold St, London EC2A 2HA. I have been corresponding with Lauren Bernard, who's email address is Abbey. She tells me that Abbey are representing themselves, but will be represented by a solicitor in court. I have just heard from DLA who confirm that it IS Ashurst who are handling my case, and I should speak to... Lauren Bernard! I have played dumb and emailed DLA again asking - "who does Lauren Bernard work for"... I will let you know what they say... Anyone wanna guess?
  18. Thanks CJ. Good point (and, yes, I agree the Scotland forum is a little hidden away..) Unfortunately the letter has now gone. I'll update to the response. thanks for the reply!
  19. Good advice, srfrench. Thanks very much. I'm going to send it tomorrow - can't see it would do any harm.
  20. I'm considering sending this letter. Can I please have comments? Thanks: I recently received a letter advising me that DLA Piper are no longer handling your caseloads, and that I should contact you directly. As you will be aware, the first Court Date (4th October) has already been met, and the Sheriff set a proof date for 13th December. DLA Piper wrote to me on 19th September 2006 offering me the full amount of £625.66, which was subject to signing a Discharge in favour of Abbey. I indicated these terms were not acceptable to me. Given the recent announcement from ICO which must only compound the situation you find yourself in, I would ask that you reconsider and make full payment to me now with no conditions attached. I would respectfully remind you that interest continues to be added to my claim the longer it continues.
