  1. No problem Paula. I'll email the one I have over to you. It's shocking when you actually LOOK at the charges, isn't it!? Let me know how you get on.
  2. I'm not actually sure about the interest on your account, but supsect this is normal practice. I think all we claim for is interest on the unlawful charges.
  3. The excel I have may be from somewhere else... It actually adds up the interest for you (and knows the date!) It's very clever! If you give me your email address I can send it to you?
  4. Hi there. Not a silly question at all! There is a very helpful excel in the library section which adds up the interest for you, so you should use this and claim the interest also. I plan to print off the excel and send it with the letter - just as much ammunition as possible will help and hopefully stop Abbey trying to stall for more time. Good luckl!
  5. Thanks Paula! I can't wait to add it all up! I looked over the last 4 months, and that was over 400.00!!
  6. Thanks Alan. I have looked at those, but, and I am sorry to repeat the query from another thread, I am still unsure as to whether Abbey DO have to respond within the 40 day period..? In the letter they say that these archived transactions are not covered by DPA, so are not subject to the ruling. I don't want to write to them saying that they are wrong, and that they must send me the details within 40 days if that's not the case... Could you please clarify for me before I write back to them? Thanks
  7. Sorry - still not sure if they DO have to respond within the 40 days..? Should I send the DPA non compliance letter?
  8. Thanks Mahala. Sorry - just getting carried away! So do you think I should write to Abbey and point out that they DO still need to respond within 40 days? Is there a letter in the library that would suit?
  9. In the letter I received from Abbey, they say re the microfiched transactions: "These archived transactions will not therefore be supplied to you under a DPA request, and will not be subject to the 40 day ruling".... Is that the case, or is it just another stalling tactic by Abbey? Thanks
  10. Thanks again Mahala. In this letter, however, they say re the microfiched transactions: "These archived transactions will not therefore be supplied to you under a DPA request, and will not be subject to the 40 day ruling".... Is that true??
  11. Thanks very much. I suspected it was, but Abbey are pretty good at giving these charges names which confuse! Quite a few of these... can't wait to get all my statements and add it all up...
  12. On my Abbey statements, there are a number of 30.00 charges for "Cleared Trans Chg".:o What is this, and should I be claiming this back? Thanks everyone!
  13. Hi all. I got my first response from Abbey, which looks like the stock answer mentioned in the 'Microfiche argument' thread. However, the initial letter I wrote was the one mentioned in this thread, enclosing the fee and asking for them to give me the microfiched details. I am confused. The letter says "It is clear that you require the transactional information that is held on the microfiche records" (YES - That's what I asked for!)... "In order to avoid any further delays, we will therefore use the 10.00 fee that you have sent with your DPA request as payment for the microfiche records that you need. You will receive these shortly" Should I beleive that, or is there anything I should do in the meantime? Thanks!
  14. Thanks again. Scales noted! I'm learning all the time on this site (at first I thought it meant you were a lawyer!!)
  15. Thanks again! I'll go search for that address.
  16. Thanks Surreyscouse. I was reading your earlier thread with great interest! I hope it all comes to it's natural conclusion (ie - you get YOUR money back!) very soon. Did you have to pay them 10.00 DPA fee to see the statements they took SO long to send you?
  17. I have discovered all 3 MBNA cards I have had over the last 6 years, and am about to write to ask for the statements. Do they need the DPA fee? Thanks all
  18. Hi everyone. Does anyone have an opinion on MBNA's 'transfer fee'? They charged me 45.00 to transfer 1,500 in to my current account (to stop me going over the overdraft!)
  19. Funnily enough, SteveD, it's the Alliance and Leicester I have chosen too - for the same reasons. Also - the savings account might force me to actually save!! I agree Martin - it will be amusing to watch all the little enticements they come up with... I will take your advice and just keep a few pounds in the Shabbey account. I'll open the new one now, as I have heaps of DD and don't want that to get complicated!
  20. If I open a full account now, and transfer all my direct debits etc, as well as paying wages in to the new account (therefore CLOSING the Abbey account), will I still be able to sue them... Or should I sit tight until they chuck ME out??
  21. Thanks Lou! I'm getting ready to leap!
  22. Hi everyone. Well, I have sent the first letter for statements to Shabbey, and now wait.... How quickly do they threaten to close the account, and WHO on earth to go to next?? Abbey do seem to have a particularly bad reputation, and I'd rather bank online.. anyone else chosen their parachute account yet? Thanks
  23. this is worrying... what can we do about it?
