  1. Ok great, I feel so much better for asking for some advice. Thanks
  2. I think there was PPI on one of them (the larger one) but can't be 100% sure. If I do receive any correspondence presumably I can send them a SB letter and that should be the end of it. I don't want to stir them up and they contact my employer, I am highly regarded in my company and it would damage any sort of promotion options. Thanks for your advice, I feel sick just thinking of dealing with this but it is surely time!
  3. Ok that's great, I haven't been in touch with anyone so that should be ok. Would it be better in the long term if I just paid the debts if they come out of the woodwork for my credit file? Morally it's the right thing to do but just wondered if it would show that I had repaired the debt somehow?
  4. Hello I'm looking for sme help and advice on how to handle some historic old debt situations. Whilst at uni 8 years ago I stopped repaying outstanding amounts on two credit cards (oh the shame now ) - combined balance of about £2000. I moved around a few times and eventually stopped hearing from either debtor. As many people probably find who do these short sighted things I am now 30, have a well paid job and would like to buy a home eventually but with the debt hanging over me and an almost irrational fear of confronting the issue I seem to now be putting my life on hold because of this. Whilst i don't have the money to pay the debts off straight away I could easily handle a repayment scheme over a few months however whilst I know where one debt is held due to a letter recently received I have no idea where to find the other debt or even if I should do this. I'm worried if I start stiring things up the bailiffs will turn up or something! Help and advice on how to sort this out gratefully received. Thanks
  5. No haven't applied for my credit report as I suspected that this would bring them out of the woodwork. I would like to know when they are SB but don't know if there is a way to find out without a copy of my credit report? However did I get in this mess I feel like a second class citizen now despite being a fully fledged grown up hefty tax payer.
  6. Hello all I wondered if anyone has any advice on this scenario. Back in 2005 (I think it was then) I fell in to difficulty with my 2 credit cards I had when I was a student - total debt about 2k. I stopped paying them and have moved a few times so have never been caught up with. I am now looking to move on with my life and rent a house and am worried about being refused and wondered if anyone had any advice. I also wondered if a 'repair your credit' card was a good idea - I feel like this debt in my past is ruining my life and stopping me moving on. I earn well now and am a different person to back then. Thanks
  7. Sounds tempting - So are we agreed that I should ignore this one?
  8. OK thanks Scabhunter - I am not concerned about a doorstep visit as it is probably a hollow threat so will leave it alone for now.
  9. Hi all - So I received a letter today addressed to me by name (guess that clears the 'is it me isn't it me' point) - saying I had to call the legal department and if I didn't a local agent would call within the next 5 days. It doesn't state what the matter is regarding. What is the best course of action? All help gratefully received - I'm trying not to panic!!
  10. LP - I think he is to be ignored. I have just spent nearly an hour reading this and I am hooked. Your advice is fantastic (not to mention forthright!). Can I please come to your Seudat Hoda'ah too? Good luck Frettful, I wait with baited breath.
  11. That's a fair point! You made me smile - This is a fantastic website and people like you who help people in a mess like me are even more fantastic. Enough happiness... back to the stressing!
  12. Thanks Scabhunter - I will listen to your advise carefully. I am reading a lot on what to do if and when this progresses and am sure with all the great help on here I can handle this. I wouldn't be so stressed about it all if it was with a more reputable company, but these do not sound like the sort of people I want to deal with!
  13. Just had another 'to the occupier letter' - I wondered if anyone had any experience on what they tend to do after I don't reply to their letters. Should I be expecting an 'express delivery' package? I am so stressed about this but reassured by all the help that is available on here.
