  1. I recently bought a car and insured the car through Swinton. I paid the 1st payment via debit card. Four days after I started the insurance I was involved in a car accident. I raised the claim and the insurance underwriter started with the body repairs. On the 1st of March my normal insurance instalment went off my bank via DD. On the 4th of March I received a letter from Swinton stating under the terms of the "terms of the credit agreement" (relating to monthly payments), the full balance must be paid in full. I contacted my local Swinton branch requesting they state in writing the full amount and detailed cost breakdown and that I will pay the outstanding amount in branch, which the Swinton agent agreed to. Since the body repair shop is still waiting for two parts my car has not been repaired yet. I recently received a "cancellation of car insurance" from the broker stating the cancellation will take effect in 7 days. I have many questions: 1. Is it legal for Swinton to cancel insurance without stating the reason? 2. What are the implications to repair my car as my car has not been repaired and returned and they have given me 7 days notice of cancellation? 3. What legal recourse do I have? 4. Other than the fos, who will take this complaint to task? 5. Is there a lawyer that have taken a case this this and won? What's the contact details? I look forward to your advise.

  3. Due to an accident I raised a claim on my insurance. As I am entitled to a courtesy car, my insurance company told me the body shop will provide me with a car and they will contact me to arrange collection / delivery. I received a few calls from a company called "Global Car Hire" offering me a car as they were instructed by my insurance. As this was in contradiction to what my insurance company said I declined to take the car on the spot and said I had to clear it with my insurance company first. I then received a call from a person with the same name as the person at "global car hire", from a blocked number - who offered me a car again. I repeated that I can not take up the offer unless my insurance instruct me. I also questioned him where he obtained my information. He insisted my insurance instructed him and continued wanting to take a fuel deposit. Once again I declined to pay any cost before I have cleared this with my insurance. Following this I called my insurance and complained about this person called "matt" from "global car hire" harassing me with calls to take the car. They then informed me that they instructed Enterprise Rent-A-Car to provide me with a car. They provided me the branch detail and I called them. When I called Enterprise Rent-A-Car I was informed that they will not rent me a car as the agent claimed that I was rude and abusive over the phone. Enterprise now refuse to rent a car to me. I've questioned them what I said that was rude and abusive. They would not tell me. I've tried to speak to customer services but they have only provided me with a complaint reference number and said it has now been passed to the area manager How do I clear my name following this untruthful accusation? Is there a regulatory authority that will take my complaint? Where do I complain to resolve the situation. Am I entitled to compensation for the defamatory and untrue accusations against me?
  4. I completed the quote and agreement over the phone. Following them taking the first and last payment, they sent me the policy documents. The amounts charged and taken was the same as the amount quoted.
  5. I recently took out home insurance (Direct Line) and declared previous claims via the telephone when I took out the insurance. Months later I made a claim but was told that my claim was invalid and insurance void because I did not notify them in writing of previous claims - as per the Terms & Conditions they sent me. What does the law say about this? Can I request (similar to Consumer Credit Act 1974) request all documentation and records kept by insurance? What remedy do I have? (they offered to pay all instalments back to me) How does this affect future insurance?
