  1. I haven't been passed to Clarity or hear anything from PTP since last year but you need to keep everything in writing! They cannot refuse your offer of payment if it is what you can afford - even if it was a token payment! They are playing games, stay strong.
  2. Sorry for the delay!!!! Yes sounds fine by me - email it. I searched for advice on here about PTP and someone had put an IOM address up for them so i sent a letter....i later found out it didn't exist so that was a pointless excersize really. Good Luck
  3. They already have your national insurance number as it is your log in details and they ask for it if you speak / email them. The address in IOM doesn't exist (i found that out later) - sorry thought i'd editted it
  4. I put something like this:- NATIONAL INSURANCE NUMBER: XXXXXX LOAN NUMBER: XXXXXX Dear Sir / madam Just to keep you informed, yesterday I wrote a letter to your company asking you to correspond with me in writing / email over this debt and not by telephone. This was sent first class to your office in the Isle of Man. It is my right to request this and failure to do so means that you will be breach of The Communications Act 2003 and The Administration of Justice Act 2003. Failure to comply means you will without hesitation be reported to OFCOM, Trading Standards and The Office of Fair Trading – meaning your company will be liable to substantial fines. I am not ignoring this debt, contact by email proves this. I am unable to pay the debt in full and as such i have cancelled my DD which is due to be paid on XX/XX/XXXX Copies of all emails will be kept as evidence should you fail to comply. Please ensure that ALL my telephone numbers are removed from your system. I trust that this meets with your approval and look forward to receiving your written response
  5. Don't worry.....email them and make it very clear that you are not avoiding this debt but will ONLY correspond in writing and ask them to remove all of your contact numbers. This worked for me. Also....on a brighter note. I cancelled my DD in November and have only had one email and one letter. Nothing since.
  6. Just wanted to update everyone.....i have heard nothing from PTP / Clarity about my PTP debt since Nov 09
  7. It wasn't neccessary for me, i didn't even cancel my card as i knew 100% i had never given them my card details. That was for a PDL with PTP
  8. Read my post above - it explains exactly what to do. First off don't panic - you're in control! Ring your bank and cancel the direct debit, also ring them and advise them that your card has been stolen. One that's been done, write /email them and advise them - explain your situation and make your offer of payment, on this correspondance also tell them that you require all correspondance to be in writing and that you will not be discussing the matter over the phone. Don't stress! I was the same but felt so liberated when pay day came around and i had control.
  9. Hi Meggie-Moo.....cancel your direct debits with the bank immediately, also cancel your debit card (tell the bank it has been stolen). Email the companies in question, advise them of your situation and make a payment offer - ask for all correspondance to be kept in writing and ask them to remove all telephone numbers from their system. You will feel so much better knowing that you are in control of the situation rather than the other way round. I only had one with PTP but i feel so much better now knowing my wage is mine. I am still battling with PTP but all phone contact stopped as soon as i emailed and from reaidng other threads they appeared to be the worst. Good luck and there will always be support on here!
  10. Got an email today! From PTP, it is the first i've had and it goes like this:- We are in receipt of your e-mail sent in on November 4th, 2009. 11. I would email them (PTP) and advise them that you do not authorise this and that you will be taken this matter up with the OFT. I would write to my bank and tell them that under no circumstances should a DD be set up again for them as they are doing this without your authorisation
  12. Your loving your battle with them aren't you?!?!?! I so wish you'd have had Gavin, think you'd have relished in dealing with him
  13. For anyone who hasn't read the paper:- The peril of easy credit at Christmas | The Sun |Features I shall be watching tonight!
  14. Tolani Jackson???? Well never heard of her on this thread!! The games have begun for you! I never played email tennis with them just playing the waiting game for Clarity!
  15. Why not go on the entitled to website and do one for both figures then work out the difference? Won't be exact but will give you an idea
  16. I just wanted to actually praise this company I posted on someone elses thread about the bad service i had recieved and someone from BAYV emailed and asked us to email them if we had any problems. I did, and recieved a call on Monday evening from the Senior Operations Manager - who couldn't do enough for me. He came to visit us, swopped our TV for a bigger, better one for no extra cost per week. Ok, ok - i am paying for the priviledge in the long run etc BUT i cannot fault the customer service i have recieved from them lately.
  17. I would write to them (send it recorded delivery) before the 18/12/09 and give them your true earnings for 2008/2009 period. They will soon write to you and inform you what action they will take. I know what you mean though about getting more if you don't work! I feel exactly the same....you're given with one hand and taken from with the other with our government! So much for giving people an incentive to work! If you explain your situation i am sure you will be able to come to an amicable agreement with HMRC
  18. I expect mine next week then! I must say i am shocked about the email though thought it'd of been sent in the post!
  19. Not quite.......they base your current year on your last years BUT if your circumstances change then you have to tell them and they amend your award (and payments) to suit. In this case the payments would increase when the OP told them about the decrease in income (although not by much as payments are based on the income of £10k not the actual £19k). What they would attempt to do would be correct this years award based on £8k and then deduct money for the overpayment each month/week.
  20. Have you made them aware of your current situation?? Has your award been amended based on your income of £8000 per annum? If you haven't then get this done straight away. With regards to the old award inform them of your exact income (this can be found on your P60) - either ring them or write to them (send them recorded delivery) advising them of this. With your income being so low have you checked that you are recieving all of the other benefits you are entitled to? Such as housing / council tax benefit? With an income of £8k i am sure you would be eligible and you can do a calculation on the internet for this. With regards to the overpayment - generally they do like to take it out of this years money BUT if you explain it will cause undue hardship then they may budge and either take less or take it in a different way.
  21. I have to agree. I don't mean to question you but are you 100% sure it was to do with a TV License? The normal course of action is court for a fine then if you fail to pay a Warrant for your arrest. They wouldn't break down the door for something like this! My husband had a Warrant out for his arrest a few years ago (for a parking fine) and they came at around 11pm at night (they come at unsociable hours to catch you out) but they knocked on the door and that was that, they basically said if you can't pay now then we arrest you and take you to station until Monday morning where it can be heard in court. I just find it very strange. Also why would they be looking for wires etc??? My first port of call would be the local paper, local radio station and then the police! Also it would be worth getting your local MP involved.
  22. No news is goods news as the saying goes! No i haven't heard anything neither
  23. Just had a call from a very nnice lady a BAYV - she has arranged for someone to collect my TV tomorrow (bring me a loan one) and take my TV to be looked at. I will keep everyone updated
