  1. Hello, I'm thinking about going down the route of getting the FOS to take on my case instead of going to court. I know it can be slower, but is there anything else I should know?
  2. Hi Joox, I have had the same problem. I never wanted a bloody overdraft. I don't want to spend more than what I have. I could swear that the rules they have now weren't there a few years ago. I too believed that if I didn't have enough money in my account, then a transaction should be declined. But apparently, because their reporting on the account is utter **** (excuse my french), they allow transactions to go through when you have no (or not enough) money in your account. To boot, they also go on and on about how internet banking makes your life easier, yet their advice to me was not to use internet banking, but to go to a cash machine and get myself a mini statement. I know, how convenient . Well, it got me into a pretty crap situation a few months back, thinking I had so much money, going to London clubbing and finding the next day I didn't have enough money to get the train back. Now I have an overdraft and it's made the whole internet banking thing even more complicated. It is a very sophisticated way to get even you and I, who do not need or want to borrow. My mum is with RBS and she says that it shows all her pending transactions. Really, how hard can it be. Also, they will just tell you to send them a letter if you speak to them on the phone and when I had a meeting with the bank they basically told me to go stuff myself and said they follow a strict policy and I should have read the T&C's. I am no expert though, just telling you my experience.
  3. I think they'd do good to remember who gives them the money to make them a business. Glad I'm not the only one who gets irate about this.
  4. Thank you for your help, I've had a look and I'm sure there's somewhere that will give me help and advice on how to do this but I can't find it...
  5. I've attempted to claim back charges previously, but I just got a letter back saying that they would put my claim on file for the moment. I had been unemployed for approximately a year, but managed to gain employment and this is the first month I have been paid. So first comes relief then anger knowing I can't buy essentials (a heater - it's cold up here in scotland etc). Makes me wonder what good my money will go to when they rob it from me.
  6. That's what I find really strange. I feel like they're telling me my custom is worth nothing.
  7. I know there's probably about a million threads like this but: I'm a very gentle, kind person, but HBOS make me want to tear my hair out! So, I manage my account online. I was completely unaware that this method of banking would cost me so much money. Because apparently it doesn't update, and I should, instead be taking my lazy arse down to the cash point to print off a mini statement so I actually know how much money I have in my account. Either that or get myself an accountant. I fear I might have been able to afford one if I had not been charged so much over the years. The icing on the cake is being told that my very first reversal of a bank charge was a 'good will gesture'. GOOD WILL?!!? NO! Good will would be not charging me £100 for going overdrawn by £1.50 for less than 1 day, when your stupid good for nothing waste of space for a website is telling me I'm in credit. I can't help but think that these are just ingenious methods of trying to get themselves out of the stupid mess they've got themselves into. It's not fair
