  1. register car as disabled it then cannot be taxed as normal.Only by presenting your dla entitlement form showing you are on full mobility will you get free tax and also once its registered as disabled you no longer have to pay the congestion charges or the fee for using dartford crossing.

    starion

You would have to register with TFL in order to get exemption from congestion charge and it applies to the one vehicle that is registered. There is a fee charged for registereing, IIRC about £10.

  2. Unless you have a photocopy of the full licence they issued you, there will be a new theory and practical test for you.

A police motorcycle instructor recently turned up for his new test on his police bike! All because the incompetant DVLA scrapped his licence too.

They are a shower of sh!te and should be all sent to Afganistan top absorb bullets and mine shrapnel before it makes contact with decent hard working soldiers.

  3. One big question which the OP hasn't answered. Has he checked with the LA to see if this is an adopted road or not? The road to me looks like part of the public highway with full lighting ect. Note the lamp post has an I.D. number on it and looks like a type used by an LA, not a private company. In any event, there is no adequate signage to make this clamping lawful. What you have done in my opinion is highly commendable.

Exactly what I originally thought and why I suggested that it was NOT a private road at all. As previously said also, they would be in very serious trouble if it is as I believe a public road.

  4. Jeeez. You have too much time on your hands!

There was no second clamp. I could fit a chain to your suspension. no licence is required. It is plain and simple, criminal damage. I would cut the chain off and bet them round the fecking head with it. it would be worth 3 months inside to crack their thick skulls.

In the real world, cut the chain and bin it. Tell them to collect the clamp from you at home within 7 days by appointment. Invite the police around to prevent a breach of the peace.

End of story. Do not waste any time writing anything more than the following:

    Dear XXXXXX

You have 7 days from today to make an appointment and collect yoru clamp from XXXXXXXXXXXX after which time it will be disposed of.

    Yours.......

That is it! Send it recorded delivery. If they don't contact you to arrange collection then sell it for scrap. Or let me know. i will buy it and clamp them!

  5. They have no claim for theft at all. They are talking clamper sh!te.

If currys pop out and leave a plasma Tv in your car for you and you drive off, that isn't theft either. These knuckle scraping f@ckwits haven't a clue what day it is, never mind what is right or wrong. I mean, lets see the funny side of all this. A clamper trying to quote the law! Give me a break.

Keep the clamp and send them a bill for its storage. £100 a day seems reasonable to me. If they collect it, ideally get it on video otherwise get them to sign for it with their name, address and signing to say 'in good condition'.

The police will not be interested in their claim of theft. In reality you could have left it where they did, in the deserted road. they should be grateful.

Cut that silly padlock off and get the chain off your car. Don't waste another second ringing those idits. Invite them in writing to sue you! I would buy tickets to that court appearance.

Get the local press involved. They love a story like that. Check with the council NOW while they are open. Is that a private or public road? I would pay good money to find out it is a public road.

In any even F@ck them. they have got right royal egg on their chops and they are whinging like a bitch.

    10/10 respect to you. I LOVE it!:D

  6. I would keep the clamp and cut the chain off. Invite them to sue you in court. keep the photographs of the whole situation.

Their signage is completely unacceptable. Clampers seem to think they are the law and can do anything they like, falling back on the old 'it is illegal to remove it' which of course it is not unless it is a DVLA or police/traffic warden clamp.

Whatever happens, do NOT pay them.

I suspect they will contact the police to claim you have stolen the clamp. Well, no. They fitted it to your car and thus you haven't stolen anything. You are keeping it is evidence for a future court date.
