  1. your joking lol, they asked me

how long ago did this happen?

    how did it happen?

told me they could not understand how this would happen?

can you send me a photo?

they havent had any more contact with me since i sent the photo and they have told my fiance that they are rejecting the claim on wednesday just gone ...........thats it. not very professional or helpful.

  2. Thanks for responding to my questions! Although, I have a few more...

    1) Is the sofa part of a suite? yes its the 3 seater and there is a 2 seater also

    2) Why did you dispose of the trousers? my fiance threw them out as she was REALLY p1ssed with me lol

    3) Have you still got the sofa? yes still got it

    4) Have you discussed the possibility of someone attending the property? i asked crawfords to attend and they just wanted a photo

    5) The TV claim, when was it? about 3 years ago

cheers dj and no probs with the questions, more than happy to answer them if it helps shed some light as to why they have rejected the claim.

  3. thanks welly its nice to be able to comment on something i know about finally lol.

i personally have dealings with munters, rainbow and chemdry on a monthly basis and to be honest (and this is just my professional opinion) i wouldnt use any them on any of my sites for different reasons. the company i ALWAYS use is Active Hygiene Services no matter where in the country the job is. they always get it spot on and dealt with professionally without any come back with full reporting and they even deal with the loss adjusters/assessors, it make my life so much easier ............. its hard to find a trustworthy company as shown by the shambles kellymike have unfortunately had to deal with.

and yes i agree that survey services is not a professional loss adjuster but is just another company trying to make extra money.

  4. I don't think this will be very successful...

In order for me to get a full understanding, could you please answer the following questions?:

    1) Has Crawfords attended the property? NO

    2) Has a restoration company, such as Tadleys Group, been to your property? NO

    3) How old is the sofa? 5 years

    4) How much was it when you purchased it? £1000 ish

    5) What claims have you had in the previous 5 years? 1 tv for £280 and the carpet for £435

    6) When was this claim submitted? (i.e. before, during or after the carpet claim) during

    7) When was the trousers disposed of? (i.e before or after the claim was reported) before the claim

8 ) What type of settlement are you looking for? (i.e. Repair, Replacement or Cash Settlement) anything

I don't think anyone can give you an effective answer without knowing the full facts. Well unless you want someone telling you to go to court or put in a formal written complaint..which is the normal answer you get on here.

lol i see a lot do sue them sue them on this site....not sure how much this is successful for people.

  5. hiya

it really is a terrible situation and unfortunatelty i see it about 4 times a week. i also work for insurance companies for the fire and flood works and have done so for about 2 years now. i agree with wellywonka that the "contractors" should not be passing any costs to you, unless of course you have called them in yourself. there does seem to be some unprofessional conduct here with the contractors sent out.

    the way it should work is as follows as oon as you report a leak;

    1) a plumber is called out to stop further damge and complete a survey

    2) a flood speicalist is called out to conduct moisture readings and assess what water damage there is and what works are going to need to be done (ie removal of flooring, skirting, kitchen, settee, batroom, plaster etc etc etc)

    3) all water damaged items (floors, skirting, architrave, plaster, doors etc etc) are to be removed.

    4) dehumidifyers and air movers are installed and moisture levels are monitered every 10 days to check on drying.

    5) once the property is dry and signed off then the reinstatement works can be started to get your property back to the standard it was before including replacing doors, plaster, painting, new units etc etc

    6) your property is signed off and the insurer close the job off.

If this process is not followed there could be a problem and if the works are not dried out PROPERLY then the damp (which turns into harful spores within 72 hours) will come back through within 6 months.

Your lucky they put you in a hotel so quickly as some insurers dont even do this when its clean water damage.

with regard to the quotes, i have see all manner of quotes from companies either being desperate for works and putting in very low prices to putting in very high prices as they are friends with the loss assessors/adjusters. obvoiusly the insurer wants to pay out as little as possible.

i think you just need to keep on at the insurer.

    Cheers

  6. Hi all

can anyone help with this or offer any advice please.

My fiance has recently submitted a claim for our living room carpet damaged due to a leak. although we have matching carpets through to the dining room, as there is a break in the carpet then the dining room carpet would not be covered so we now have to have mismatched carpets as the carpet we have cannot be matched on colour. this was dealt with by local companies coming out and having a look and we have been offered a cash settlement as they cannot match the colour of the existing carpet.

she also has submitted a claim for our settee which was ripped from the studs on the back of a pair of my jeans (stupid studs all over the pockets and jeans are now in the bin). this claim was passed to crawfors in Ireland. a gentleman by the name of Eamon called me and basically (not in so many words) told me i was lying and that he had never heard of this happening before and would need to see photographic evidence. i emailed the pictures to him. we have had to chase them lots of times and finally my fiance got hold of them and she was told that eamon was too busy dealing with more impoortant clients (nice customer service) but the message was to tell us that they are refusing our claim.

i was outraged and phoned barclays again and was told that they do not have a customer complaints office at barclays, if i wanted to complain i would have to speak with crawfords and let them deal with it......the matter was out of their hands.

My fiance wants to leave it as she doesnt like confrontation but i feel that they are calling me a liar and if i drop it i am admitting to being a liar (which i am certainly not).

any advice from you clever people.....suggestions.......

    cheers

  7. Hi can anyone help? Yesterday i recieved a letter from Link Financial stating

"we have recently, without success, attempted to contact you with regards to your outstanding balance with us of £2351.20. Your refusal to deal with this matter has prompted our office to make an enquiry under the LAND REGISTRATION ACT 2002.

you are recorded on the PROPRIETORSHIP REGISTER AT HM LAND REGISTRY as holding a beneficial interest in the property xxxxxx. this means you may have a significant asset, one that can be used to enforce a county court judgement by way of a final charging order."

Firstly i dont know who Link Financial are as i have never heard of them/from them before. and secondly i have no idea what this debt relates to.

Any suggestions as to what i should do? there seems to be some very good advice and lots of helpful people on here. Ive only just joined today but there are a few things i will be posting over the next few days.

    cheers :)
